WORLD'S FINEST #10: Almost

WORLD'S FINEST was a ten issue miniseries that covered Batman and Superman's friendship over ten years in the post-Crisis post-Zero Hour DC Universe. For most of that decade, they thought their refusal to work together resulted in an innocent man dying. They find out they were wrong.



The best-known issue of this series is #7, where Batman and Superman discuss the death of Jason Todd. But issue #10 has cool ending.







The last two panels are references to what was going on in the Batman and Superman comics at the time of this miniseries: BATMAN: NO MAN'S LAND and SUPERMAN: KING OF THE WORLD. Batman declared Gotham City off limits to all other superheroes and Superman decided he was the only one who could solve the world's problems. Superman was psychically influenced by villain Dominus, freed when Lois kissed him. Batman was, well, Batman.

Nice optimistic riff on the 'someone died, and it's me, the hero's fault! Not the actual bad guy who killed the someone! Comfort me, supporting character!' plot line. That Grey twist's almost Golden Age-y in its outlandishness.

I think I remember this series. It also had Superman meeting Az-bats, and Batman meeting the various folks following Death of Superman, right?

Ummm... no, not remotely.

He's outlining the plot which we've just seen the resolution of after 10 issues of their mutual self blaming for the events of #1.
