When people talk about how terrible Ultimates is, they don't mention that Wasp spends most of the comic in the nude. To be fair, male characters run around naked quite a bit as well, but it's never presented as sexily as some of the panels here. I wonder if Marvel provided Hitch with a list of "100 Ways to Hide a Nipple" or if he had to come up with them all himself.
then it is to keep on the sense of helplesness of her situation that started since the Pym scene and that none of the other avengers is going through nor will they do, or to put it another way, neither Tony Steve nor Thor are going to be naked prisoners while a villain teases them about killing them in an almost rap-y way (yes, Pym was naked when Cap fought him, difference being that there, Pym was HUGE, thus making him look mor eimposing, here Jane is tiny and trapped)
everything can be justified by using "context", which is decided by the writer. yet funnily enough, context never seems to apply to Hank the same way it does Jane.
also, as for the rap-y subtext. *the alien nazi hold the naked, hopeless figure of Jane, unable to do anything to defend herself besides looking horrified after he describes the process of their shapeshifting ability* "can you guess who i am becoming next?" then, in a later panel, he expresses desillusion at being unable to "experiment a female figure". there is rape subtext going on here
If you're disappointed in the lack of sexual violence against men you can check out Millar's Authority run. You won't have to strain yourself to see it like you do here. He clearly has no issue depicting it.
well, did Ult!Hank Pym appear there as the victim? and was that book strongly tied to this one or was, in someway, dealing with Jan's treatment here? because if not, then that would be a topic apart from this discussion. (and yes, i know The Authority is DC) I am not "disapointed" that Millar did not show sexual violence against men here (which was not my point and you know it). I am pointing out a trend, not necessarily exclusive of Millar, but that he still falls into regardless. and him writing that in The Authority does not make this here any less problematic.
You were complaining that male characters are never going to be naked prisoners of a rapey supervillain when Millar already did that with Authority (granted this character was not yet naked but was in his underwear).
It's just that in THIS specific storyline there is no reason why Hank would be in a position. He doesn't even shrink in this universe so a villain capturing him in a jar is unlikely. He's also if not a villain then an antagonist so the audience has no reason to fear for him.
