Larisa is distilled awesomeness. My other favourite character is little scary mad adorable genius Yuna.
Sandra and Woo is a fun comic. My one criticism is that in terms of tone it's all over the place. Writer Novil seems at times unsure of what sort of strip he wants it to be. One arc will be a sweet tween romance with Sandra and Cloud. Another will involve Larisa (who is 12) intending to sext her boyfriend a nude photo of herself and accidentally landing millions of Snapchat users in jail. Then another will be an adorable "best friends forever" interlude with the title characters. Then another will be a heavy-handed, subtle-as-a-sledgehammer political diatribe. Then, a cute moment between married couple Ye Thuza and David. Then, raccoon couple Woo and Lily fucking on the Norths' dinner table in front of guests. And so forth.
It's like...make up your mind, Novil. If you want to do a sweet, family-friendly comic, great. If you want to do a raunchy, naughty comic, also great. If you want to do sociopolitical commentary (which, curiously with him, seems to swing wildly, depending on the topic, from progressive to conservative), fine. But trying to be all things to all readers within the same series is counterproductive.
Founded by girl geeks and members of the slash fandom, scans_daily strives to provide an atmosphere which is LGBTQ-friendly, anti-racist, anti-ableist, woman-friendly and otherwise discrimination and harassment free.
Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
