Ultimates 3, of course! Wherein it just suddenly looks like regular Mjolnir.
Though Hickman did explain that the Mjolnir we saw in Ultimates 1 and 2 wasn't the real one, just your normal super-advanced Earth hammer, capable of interdimensional teleportation and weather generation. Thor just called it Mjolnir. All very simple.
My super cool and smart/profound characters I created will wipe the floor with the already existing powerful characters that people already like, proving how awesome they are and how epic this situation is! Also, epic and "profound" narration! More of it! MORE I SAY!!!
Oh god, this is like the warmup to Hickman's Avengers run isn't it?
i found this run enjoyable, still do, especially since i took it out of the larger context of running trends and habits in comics and just enjoyed the story standalone. So the gods being offed wasn't so horrible for me.
Really liked this ultimate version of the future foundation, wish he explained where they came from though.
I wind up saying this about the Ultimate Universe every time, but what a waste. The Ultimate Universe was pretty much dead in the water and headed inevitably for cancellation after Ultimatum gutted it, but I still feel like what came after could have had potential.
Having a version of the Marvel Universe, even one missing a bunch of iconic characters, which doesn't have to stick to a status quo, and then using that as a proving ground for new talent was an unparalleled opportunity. Unfortunately, creators like Hickman just opted to pull the universe apart even more, rather than building something interesting out of what was left.
The thing is, there's some of that potential here. Reed getting frustrated with the system and forcing the world to 'improve' even if it doesn't want to. Thor becoming mortal, especially after the 'is he or isn't he?' questions of the first two Ultimates Volumes. Sadly, Hickman's presentation leaves more than a bit to be desired.

But then it's Ultimates 3, so it can probably just be ignored.
Or maybe Thor has many hammers called Mjolnir. Maybe ALL the hammers in Asgard are named Mjolnir.

... Did they ever explain how and where Reed got all those people from?
And why exactly they went with him?
Ooo, oooo, I know that one!

Because quite frankly, I can't think why any of this would be a good idea.

Wonder if this was Hickman's "attempt" to create DC's New Gods?
