"He’s meaner, he’s nastier, and he’s more personally conflicted—he’s suffering from more existential dread [than the SUPREME POWER version]. [This version] makes that guy look like a tame little pussycat."

"There [are] references to other characters in the Marvel Universe so that we know that they exist; for really long term geeky fans of Marvel, there’s going to be a character that pops up—I don’t want to give that away because it’s a major supporting [cast member] that no one is going to be expecting to see."

I mean, Confederate flag toting, meth selling white supremacists are certainly racist, but I feel like they're not generally super pro-cop?

eh I mean they side with cops over black people. At least online. A lot.

Probably not but the writer was probably trying to tick off every stereotype he could.

Smart clip? Okay, comic science and all, but without having Pym particles be a major part of the design I just can't see that working.

Nanotech or smart metal in the magazine and chamber that reconfigures on the fly to fit the round, I suppose. It's not like there's that huge a variance in sheer size.

I suppose it'd open the door to some pretty nasty custom hand-loads.

With nanos the material has to come from somewhere (also go somewhere, but I guess it can just be dropped off like used cartridges). And air isn't usually enough in comics.

Alternately

It could be that both the internal and external dimensions of the weapon (magazine well, chamber, barrel) could be automatically adjusted based on the round, as odd as that must look, though I imagine that for plausibility's sake there's an upper limit and the "any" was hyperbole -- definitely one if the mag well's in a pistol grip!

Could be, but that's not a smart clip, that's a smart weapon.

I don't see how a smart mag works with a non-smart weapon unless it's really just "if the round is already compatible with both the chamber and the barrel, the magazine will resize accordingly up to the maximum width allowed by the mag well"... oddly underwhelming compared to what Earth-616 henchmen have already fielded.

Even then, differences in length-to-width ratio, powder charge, those are going to make a difference. Put a bullet with too much kick behind it in the chamber, and surprise! You're actually holding a manually-operated fragmentation grenade.

I'm actually somewhat interested in this book after seeing her in it.

I've had a soft spot for her since MODOK's 11.

This is actually exactly the type of role I wanted to see her take in another book, but hopefully an ensemble team book (back when I dream of the Initiative still being a thing and my beloved Rangers getting some face time).

But this is such a radically different look and attitude from her, it's hard to reconcile her with the mad scientist we know and love. What happened to her hair poofies? (I don't miss her old outfit because it was silly and skimpy, but her hair, that's a startling change...) And why is she now all "Hey boss" and reformed when she was a villain pretty recently? It's just odd. :)

Well she was trying to reform back in MODOK's 11. As a polymath autodidact, she doesn't have a degree so she couldn't get a job at a hospital beyond clerical work even though she's smarter than all of the doctors.

So having her work for Nighthawk's corporation makes sense, because he can recognize her intelligence and pay her well for it. And since she's working for a Squadron Supreme member she's not completely reformed, she is helping him murder criminals after all.

I do miss the hair poofs. And the werewolf serum, they seem to just be focusing on her robotics expertise and ignoring her biochem background.

Its so weird seeing DC Expies be the kill happy ones given that DCs headliners are much less likely to than Marvel's.

Seems to be the same guy as the Supreme Power version, just a different writers take.
