I'm not really fond of that scene with Jarvis lecturing the new Wasp; it reads like a little too much of a strawman argument representing fans who might be opposed to the character, given how quickly Jarvis then seems to warm to her.
I mean, I like the new Wasp, she's a neat addition to the team, but.. That just seems a little off.
It works for me in the context of the whole issue. Jarvis, normally staid and easygoing, has been really, REALLY irritated at the start of the story by the reduced circumstances in which he has to serve, and seeing someone bogarting the identity of one of his favorite people without permission (unlike, say, Sam Wilson, who had Steve Rogers' blessing) just jumped on his already frayed nerves. Once he realizes his error (and her identity is semi-confirmed), he immediately changes his attitude.
I'm liking what I see of Nadia so far. Nice kid, lots of potential. I hope they're not going for a dark twist or something.
Not liking what they're doing with Jarvis here. I get it, this branch of the Avengers are kind of in a rough patch in terms of equipment, but not the worst off they've been over the years. Remember the time their base of operations was Buckys apartment, or Doc Strange's house? And Jarvis is a man of class and skill. He'd take something like that hanger and make something glorious of it.
On a side note, have we had Kamala geeking out over getting to meet Jarvis? She totally would.
Especially when you consider how he actually got massively depressed when the Avengers 'died' and disbanded after Onslaught, to the point he was basically slouching around his apartment with a full five-o-clock shadow, and then like five minutes after he heard the news the Avengers were back he was washed, shaved, and dressed ready to go back to work?
He should have been waiting by the phone for the Avengers to call.
And even if he'd, for some reason, decide to quit then he'd be sure to give a two weeks notice, secure a replacement and whatnot. This is decidedly un-Jarvis-like behaviour.
I think the whole point is that there's no need for a replacement. He's feeling purposeless because a warehouse has no need for a butler. So now he's found a new role, where he can be more of a contributor and have purpose again.
True. That's not what I said, though, which should be clear if you follow the exchange from the start. Jarvis is free to resign if he wishes, but a good butler would give a notice in advance and help with seeking a replacement. Tony is free to hire another butler even if there's no apparent need for one if he so chooses.
Well, if you don't like it, the good news is that it's already over. Seriously, with that ending, I'm pretty sure we'll never see Jarvis whine about working in a warehouse again (though he might drop a dry joke or two).
Me, I enjoyed it while it lasted. It IS "un-Jarvis-like" but entirely understandable that someone whose whole career, with brief interruptions, has basically been superhero DOWNTON ABBEY would be a little put out if he had to downshift to 2 BROKE GIRLS. It wasn't like he was going around bitching to Tony about it either: he was trying to keep it to himself until he lost his temper-- all of once-- and then realized he was still needed and adjusted his attitude. Would that we could all shrug off our workplace gripes so easily.
(Now, if this had been the focus of a six-issue arc, instead of hinted at in a couple of issues and then dealt with in one, then yeah, it might've gotten old pretty fast.)
So they're going to visit the rest of Nadia's family, so that includes: Tigra and son Victor Mancha Any lingering Ultrons lurking about Jocasta Alkchema Jim Hammond Wicca and Speed, maybe Wanda too
Interesting that they're bringing up Hank Pym's first wife, usually she gets downplayed for both aging the character and making his relationship with Janet weird. But I suppose that the former is no longer an issue thanks to the film version being older, and the latter is pretty easily glossed over. I suppose it's much more elegant than having the new Wasp be a time traveler or something though, and leaves the character far less likely to vanish into limbo.
Eh. Just means whichever writer wants to get rid of her to make Hank more "interesting" or whatever will just have to get rid of her the old fashioned way: By which I mean murdering her.

So she'll probably be juuuust fine.
