Happy Father's Day

It's been a pretty bloody awful week all things considered, the tragedy in Orlando, the murder of a British MP, the general political situations on both sides of the Atlantic (and elsewhere in the world of course) and my mood is definitely not helped by the latest news about Anton Yelchin passing away.

As such I am using the BIG guns to celebrate Father's Day because I think I need to.


Now I like to think I'm a good Uncle, but am too old, too set in my ways and too selfish for fatherhood to be something I'd aspire to. However, I was blessed with a father I loved and who loved me and though he's long since passed away, I have many happy memories to look back on with a smile.

In terms of comic book fathers, there are a few that stand out, but you KNOW who my default choice will be... and given the week, I'm going for the big guns..



I might also recommend the Cabbage Patch story about how Terry came into Bruce's life....

Bruce still hasn't gotten that daughter of eternal darkness he wished for at the family grill meet when she was just over the hill and only Terry saw her. ;_;

Hey, Happy Father's Day to you dads and/or your dads! I might do a post about the first comic-book related thing me and my old man shared this week.

Ironically, it involved Batman, Robin and Bane, paragons of uncomplicated paternal influences.

Any reference to Alfred being considered Batman's father is certain to get me right in the feels. Every time.

My dad is one of those guys that actually owned Action Comics #1 back in the day, and whose mother threw it out when he was away in college, or the army, or somewhere. :-)
