A blenderized reimagining of the ultimate series of the strange, DOOM PATROL combines elements from classic runs, new directions, and things that could not be. Our entry point is Casey Brinke, a young EMT on the graveyard shift to abstract enlightenment, with a past so odd that she’s not entirely sure what is real and what is not. Along with her partner, Sam Reynolds, the pair blaze a path through the city and its denizens, finding the only quiet that exists at 3am is the chaos of the brain. When the pair answer a hit-and-run call, they find themselves face to face with a familiar figure: Cliff Steele, AKA Robotman.
“It gets weirder from here,” writer Gerard Way had to say about the book, with artist Nick Derington gripping tightly on the wheel of the ambulance. The pair’s only communication? Shouting out of the open windows while at high velocity. Who needs a new roommate? Who names a cat “Lotion”? And when do we get to see all those muscles?

I'm just going to say this but that Batman cover does not remotely reflect what the solicit is saying at all.


Also, nice to finally see that new Young Animal book arrive. The next one, Shade the Changing Girl, just got announced for an October release. Really hope these books turn out well.

I've got to get around to preordering Doom Patrol and some of the other Young Animal stuff coming up. I'm also pretty excited that the version of Negative Man in this series seems to be Rebis, whom no one since Pollack has had the guts to use. The original Rebis stuff is dated, but I think with the right handling now is the perfect time to bring in an unabashedly nonbinary superhero.

I'm really confused by how the new Blue Beetle series is apparently ditching the Reach mythology in favor of a retcon that it was magic all along. Not only were the Reach cool and unique, but also it's really late in the game for DC to be changing the character's origins, it's just going to wind up confusing people.

I've been a little concerned that Emiko was going to get written off as a villain in Green Arrow, so I'm glad to see that she's going to remain a major part of the book.

Also, did you order Shade the Changing Girl as well? CBR just put up an interview with the writer on the title.

Shade was the Young Animals books I was least interested in, not being a huge fan of teen books, but that interview has me reconsidering.

Also, it says a lot about how little i expect from the comic book industry that I was pleasantly surprised to see that Shade is being made by a female creative team rather than a bunch of middle aged dudes.

Yeah. Overall i am not fond of "everything turned out to be a lie" (Altough i think it is FAR more prefferable than "let's retcon this thing seven times!"), but with the level of Damage Control there is to do, I think it was the best we could have hoped for.

I imagine people don't really notice either due to the prevalence of the pose in certain media or because males aren't usually exposed to Escher Girls-esque proportions outside of certain exceptions.

The fact that they're maintaing the continuity that Zor-El is Cyborg Superman gives me hope they won't forget the new 52 version of Siobhan.

I hope Kara gets some reconciliation and it’s not just horrible events for her. Then again, this version of Zor-El was evil, right?

I always find it jarring when Justice League members try to bring Aquaman to justice rather than talk to him and get to the bottom of things.

Green Lanterns seems like such a fun buddy cop book.

Is raven featured in Rebirth as well and if so, what happens to her?

Raven is featured in Rebirth, but barring any cameos, isn't appearing in anything before September, when Teen Titans launches.

Raven has her own miniseries starting i September, where faces the challenge of going to school. Again.

I mean, what happens to her in Rebirth. The school thing is clearly set before Rebirth. I ask, because I want to know whether the school thing is going to be retconned.
