Civil War II: The Quickening #2

CBR News: He definitely has a long history at both Marvel and DC. This week brought news of midnight sales next month for "Civil War II" #3, which clearly positions that as a very important issue, with what's billed as a major character death. We talked a lot last week about War Machine's death; given the early promotion around this upcoming death -- including a Joe Quesada variant of the unnamed fallen hero -- is it fair to say this is expected internally to have an even bigger impact?
Axel Alonso: Yes. It's a big character and his or her death is a major turning point in the story. And the scene in which they die -- everyone will be talking about.
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: David Lopez
I was going to post this tomorrow, but since Marvel has no damn patience...
So last time, Tony Stark kidnapped Ulysses and demanded that he tell him how his powers worked. It didn't go so well and now the Avengers and crew have shown up...

Ulysses' new vision shows of a gigantic Hulk, crushing both Captain Marvel and Iron Man in his hands while the dead bodies of the Avengers lay all around.

Next time, we'll cover all of #3 and the fallout of that crap.

Date: 2016-07-13 07:17 pm (UTC)You have people who predict the future. You know you can interrupt that future and prevent it from happening. So why does "interruption" require killing or incarcerating the would-be criminal? Can't you just tap them on the shoulder, tell them you know about the crime s/he's considering, and that if they do it they will *totally* be caught?
Especially when the future criminal is cooperative. If FuturePredictor tells me I'm going to kill my family or friends or something, just send me on vacation or lock me in a bunker until the predicted event passes. No need to shoot me or send me to jail for thirty years.

Date: 2016-07-13 07:55 pm (UTC)The whole premise is only possible IF THE FUTURE CAN BE CHANGED. To treating perpetrators of "future crimes" like the future is set in stone is ridiculous. This is my main problem with CW2. Everyone in real life seems to agree this is the case. Its an issue with only one side.
Is there anyone on the side of Captain Marvel? Is there anyone who thinks punishing people for things they had no intention of doing, that it is within your power to prevent them doing is a sane and rational course of action?
