Hm, time to dust off my copy of Hofstadter's The Mind's I? How much of a sliver of a brain would we need to store a psychic message? And if thought can be preserved in a slice of brain, would that make each slice a copy of the self? Or, this being comics, are we sliding back toward... Legion?
Now, admittedly my knowledge of Betsy's youth is pretty sketchy, but I don't recall her having any involvement in the Hellfire Club beyond that one time she infiltrated it while working with STRIKE, only for Sage to make her leave. (I mean, I can understand why no-one might remember that, coming as it does f' X-Treme X-Men.) And the Betsy of the early Captain Britain days didn't seem like a lady who'd much involvement with That Sort of Thing.
Also, I can't buy the idea of M as a member of the Hellfire Club, or as some potentially villainous sort. Even if she's not exactly the most noble person around (or even in that conversation) it just doesn't seem like something she'd do.
The Braddock family has ties with the Hellfire that go back a generation or two (at least, it varies from story to story).
Brian Braddock was able to claim a legacy position as Black Bishop of the London Branch Inner Circle (the one with the Red and Black colour scheme, rather than American Black and White)
IIRC We've also seen flashbacks in the last X-Force (or the one before that) to Betsy's early-ish life where she attended a party or two there, and met Warren for the first time.
Betsy's childhood is a mess. In Uncanny X-Force Remender wrote as if she and her brothers were always aware of Otherworld and their father's involvement there
X-Men # 150: "This is Magneto. Compared to him the entire Hellfire Club is a bunch of fifth rate amateurs!"
Shaw, some issue of Unlimited X-Men "The hatred between Magneto and me is legendary, we are the greatest of enemies"
This is the first time I've seen evidence that Magneto even remembesr Shaws name.
I always filled in Shaws monologue like this:
Shaw: "...our hatred is legendary!!"
Magneto: "I am sorry, who are you again
Shaw: "What? You don't remember me? We were in the Hellfire club together! I am the Black King!"
Magneto: "Of course! Stefan Short! How have you been?"
Shaw: Weeps
In short, I always felt that Magneto mostly ignored Shaws machinations when they were in the Hellfire club and Shaws hatred of Magneto is entirely one-sided. Shaw just doesn't matter enough on any level to Magneto.
Couldn't you have found a pose for Monet that didn't involve her staring awkwardly at people while her back is turned? Or did you just have a really good butt pose you wanted to trace?
I used to hate Greg Land art for obvious reasons. But now I just play the Greg Land drinking game, where you count how many of the same tracing you can find in the same issue. Like those exact same panels of Psylocke holding that test tube

Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
