"Jess’s new life is all about working street level and helping normal people. Civil War is the antithesis of that mission statement." - Dennis Hopeless
... Okay, I admit it, I don't know anything about any superhero ever! I just walked into a comic store when I was ten and I've been bluffing my way through every conversation since!
Er... that is, having checked a reputable source, it says she does have super-strength. Sorry 'bout that.
She found the alternate universe Reed Richards in Spider-Gwen's reality and asked him to build a portal back to 616 for them out of legos.
While she first started a fist fight against her villainous male counterpart from that reality, they stopped and managed to talk each other down for the sake of her kid and walked away allies, something similar happened with his wife.
Good to know. I skipped over that crossover event (it was around the time he made Warren/Laura into a truly toxic relationship so I swore him off completely even though his second #8 of Spider-Woman was really good), but I have to admit, something about what your describing seems . . . Off to me. I guess I'll have to read it for myself eventually.
I'm glad at least one of the problems I've had with that series was addressed though . . .
Because aside from the crossover, and the "Cool Motive, Still Murder" intro to Hopeless' Spider-Woman, I struggle to think of any that didn't treat Jess as basically "The Muscle." As near as I can remember. And I stopped at the crossover (though I did check out the Wendgio issue which was another "Jess is the muscle while Porcupine humorously stumbles across the source of the problem!" story).
