"Think about all the great characters that fall under the Hasbro umbrella. The Transformers, G. I. Joe, ROM, M.A.S.K., the Micronauts! All of these properties have their own exciting back stories and histories. Well, in Revolution, all of those ideas collide in a huge way. During this series, we’ll discover that these characters exist in the same world. We’ll see how their histories and futures are intertwined, and we’ll establish a huge shared universe from this point forward."

I don't mind GI Joe and the Autobots at each other's throats for awhile, but I just wish it wasn't so forced.

I hope that GI Joe gets a bit of a brain on it soon, this isn't doing Scarlett's character any favors.

Yea, humans are a bit quick to jump the gun recently.

Though IDW Earth does have much more reason to be distrustful than most, and they don't yet know there's non-cybertronian aliens afoot.

Precisely because IDW humans got so horribly throunced by Cybertronians (to the point that they lost 1/6 of their entire race in just 2 years, and the only reason the genocide stopped is that OP beat Megatron into a coma), you'd think they'd be a little less likely to charge at them LEEEEEEEEEEEEEROY JEEEEEEEENKINS-style. Especially right after said Cybertronians have made it clear they really, really, really don't want to fight.

It's not even "how dare you not trust our heroes!" so much as "maybe don't play soccer with a jar of nitroglycerin?"

Initially they did, but the first ongoing had Skywatch gain some capability to fight back (largely against energon-starved stragglers without organization), and the recent stuff has them with more aces in the hole. So since AHM was something like a decade ago, for some, the terror has changed to, "Ok, we're *ready* now."

Not to take 'em all on, of course, but hopefully to make it unpleasant enough that they'll leave.

Does this version of the Neutralizer leave corpses? It kinda looks like it does, but that might just be artistic license. But if it does and no one notices anything weird in the autopsy of the Wraiths, or simply doesn't do any, then that's a freaking big idiot ball going around for the Joes.

IDW Wraiths work differently to the Marvel variety. Marvel Wraiths copy their target, kill their target, replace their target and, when neutralised, leave behind piles of Wraith ash while their real self is banished to Limbo. IDW Wraiths are almost a sentient virus that uploads itself into its target, infects it and takes over - mind, body and soul. As a result the original person ceases to be, and the newly-introduced Wraith entity can become it, and also anything else it's ever infected (and then jumped away from) as well as its original form.

So IDW Rom is indeed killing them. However, he describes the victims of Wraith infection as "dead tissue", given the original intelligence/soul has been murdered and replaced, so he feels he's killing no one (as he apparently doesn't consider Wraiths worthy of, well, consideration).

Someone asked him if that meant Wraiths were "zombie bees". Rom replied he'd not been on Earth long enough to become familiar with its fauna :-)

Huh, after the preview, I expected Soundwave to use some sort of high-pitched sonics or something to stun the Joes or something. Not... just talking to them.

Surprising that OP didn't give the order to take out ROM, since he was disintegrating those he was trying to forge an alliance with (and making them look bad in the process).

Also: This Scarlett is an idiot.

The Autobots do try to protect the humans, then give chase when Rom bolts.

Ugh, another female character has been taking the "awful person" pills. I wasn't predisposed to like this anyway seeing as I hate GI Joe, but giving us an off-brand Maria Hill/Carol Danvers/Nu-52 Amanda Waller is just the worst.

I was never a fan of GI Joe, but I was under the impression that they were supposed to be professionals. Is Scarlett always this irrational? I feel like I'm looking at red-haired Maria Hill.

I hope it doesn't affect Marissa.

Some random thing she doesn't know from Adam just flew down and disintegrated her boss and two of her friends/co-workers without any explanation whatsoever, and then flew off.

Scarlett does not know the Dire Wraiths exist.

Cybertronians are responsible for a TON of damage and loss of life on the IDW Earth.

Optimus Prime has basically declared himself the ruler of the Earth and has one of the most prominent/high-ranking Decepticons right alongside him, which likely makes it really hard to see much difference between the two.

What exactly is Scarlett being irrational about unless we expect her to be semi-omniscient?

OK?

G.I. Joe is never supposed to fight when the odds are against them?

They are not supposed to rush head-on, with no plan and no intel, into a battle they are massively outpowered in.

They are especially not supposed to do so by interrupting the enemy general while he is giving some much-needed intel. You yourself noted that the Joes had no explanation whatsoever for the previous attacks. Even if we take Optimus as a villain and we assume that he was merely gloating, he was still explaining what happened (or at least his biased version of what happened, which is still more intel than zero intel).

And they are especially especially not supposed to keep shooting at enemies that A)refuse to fight back or even defend themselves and keep trying to tell them about a "real enemy," obviously something is very wrong there, and B)are clearly not being harmed by the barrage of bullets, so even if you are still 100% determined to kill them you obviously need a new tactic or you are like those poor schmucks that empty their guns on Superman.

I must really insist, Scarlett was irrational.

Actually, I haven't read the entirety of this book so I don't know, but what's this incident in Greece that obviously has the Joes on edge? That likely plays a part in things, as well.

Ore-13, the weird Energon variant Shockwave planted on Earth millions of years ago, is starting to act up. The first case of this was a mountain in Greece exploding. The Alien Infiltrator in charge of GI Joe is very quick to point fingers here.

mountain in Greece

Mount Olympus, specifically. There's a cute exchange between Action Man and his support about how he didn't realize it actually existed.

Well, that escalated quickly.

Good to see IDW is continuing its long tradition of killing random obscure Joes... obviously in this case what we can take away as readers is that the Wraiths were impersonating these guys, but still...

Fun fact: Red Zone (Luke Ellison) is based on a real fan who won a contest. Wonder how Luke feels about one of his only appearances being this...

I can't blame the Joes for being upset. In the IDW continuity this is essentially continuing, the Cybertronians have been responsible for like, well over a billion deaths. No wonder Scarlett is trigger-happy. (Trigger-Happy sounds like a Transformer or G.I. Joe character, doesn't it?)

Rom isn't Marvel currently right? Or is it that GI Joe and Transformers are back with Marvel?

IDW are Hasbro's go-to comics guys, and have ROM as well as all these other properties.

Marvel has Space Knights, Hasbro has Rom and Dire Wraiths, but not Dire Wraiths being skrull offshoots.

It's *fun*. And fortunately IDW and Marvel have a good working relationship or I doubt either side would be able to use squat.

Marvel can't own Rom the Spaceknight, because that was the name of the toy before Marvel licensed it from Parker Brothers (now a part of Hasbro). Using Spaceknight in the title seems to be a bit of a squishy issue, but Rom was never a Marvel property, proper, it's was Parker Brothers', and now it is Hasbro's.

All of Hasbro's properties that have comics are at IDW now. (At least the toys...I know there's a D&D comic, but can't remember if it's IDW.)

All the boy-aimed properties are incorporated into a single universe - GI Joe, Transformers, Rom, Micronauts, MASK, and Action Man.

At this point, the Autobots and the EDC (Which Colton was recently put in charge of and folded GI Joe into), have been clashing on and off with each other since somewhere around 2014. Last month, a Joe defended convoy was attacked by what they believe was Alpha Trion. While I'm not a fan of the Joes and the Bots fighting, I can understand it. And then the Transformers Magic Space Rock blows up a mountain.

And then Rom comes in and kills Colton. I'd bet good money the Dire Wraith infiltrators have been pushing the 'fight the alien robots' angle hard, especially since their least favourite Space Knight showed up. Things escalating at this point does make sense. That said, comments from IDWs writers and editors in a recent AMA suggest that Revolution will also fix things there, given that the Joes will be having a Cybertronian liaison in their own ongoing.

They are being drawn into this whole mess too somehow. I don't know what the link is, whether it is just a "red sky" type of link or a full on involvement in the mess but from next month on they are getting the "Revolting", sorry, "Revolution" banner for a couple of issues. Then the new season launches. I just want a resolution on the geo-bomb, all the rest of this "Headmaster" and "Revolution" stuff leaves me cold.

MTMTE: Revolution is a one-shot about the Scavengers visiting Earth and likely being very confused by the whole thing. Then Lost Light #1 picks up with Rodimus and co, with whatever they've managed to get themselves into this time.

Interactions with Earth are not necessarily bad. In Ex-Rid, Thundercracker's friendship with Marissa is fantastic, every single scene with the puppy Buster is gold, and his attempts to write human fanfiction is one of the best recurring jokes in the entire franchise.
