When Titans Fall - Teen Titans 24
Oct. 2nd, 2016 11:42 pmSince Teen Titans Rebirth 1 just came out, I feel it safe to post 1/3 of Teen Titans #24

as the Titans mourn the loss of their leader, Red Robin.
Now we, of course, know that Tim is still alive, but as far as the rest of the world is concerned, Red Robin is dead, so the current remaining Teen Titans gather to remember him and celebrate what he meant to them... the current team is Beast Boy, Bunker, Raven, Power Girl and Wonder Girl.
First up is Bunker, who recalls a time when Red Robin summoned him (Well, sort of) for a top secret missions (Well, sort of)

(Since Tim went to High School under his original name rather than the sort of "Witness Protection" name that the New 52 decided Tim Drake was and the Penguin had his original idenitty on a kill list, not sure why he'd be showing up at a reunion, but never mind)
That being said, Tim needing help in how to dress like a normal kid sort of works... especially given some of his odd choices new 52.
But now, cue the catwalk music...

Daww...
I'll skip over the Power Girl section, which was about how they could science geek out with each other, and how he understood what it was like not to be the first person to be using a superhero codename.
The Raven one I've skipped because it involves Tim being able to relate to Raven because he knows about scary father figures and kids saddled with dark destinies (referring to Damian)... which strikes me as "off" as Tim should know better than anyone that Batman isn't REALLY scary... and certainly nothing like a genocidal demon like Trigon the freaking Terrible.
Then it's Beast Boys turn...

Tim complimenting Damian? Ever? I think I call shenanigans on that one...

Speaking personally, I'd still rather have Mr Grayson as my company on a desert island, but Tim would be a fairly close second. (I'm also not sure how much of a history Gar has had, as to how he knows Dick at all etc... but never mind)
And then it's Wonder Girl's turn, as we see Cassie and Tim, on a bit of a road trip, address the weirdness that is their relationship, going back to the time when Tim kissed her... and then didn't kiss her again. He explains he feels that with Trigon messing with their minds and emotions it wasn't real.. but before he can answer her when she asks what he feels now, they encounter a fire at a coal processing plant, and Red Robin goes into action

The Titans agree that despite the fact that they were good together and could continue, with Power Girl being keen on helping other young meta's like themselves, it's not the same without a Robin leading them, and the team basically dissolves;
Raven wants to rebuild her family connections in San Francisco, Gar heads off to LA to try and restart is acting career, he invites Miguel to join him, but Miguel only agrees to take Gar to the airport and after that... who knows and Tanya and Cassie decide that they will continue their heroic efforts as Power Girl and Wonder Girl.
And the last page is the foreshadoing of Damian standing in front of Tim's "swan queen" costume memorial in the Batcave... DUM DUM DUM!!!

Date: 2016-10-04 02:52 am (UTC)The problem is it looks like they've reverted his to his "smirking asshole with something to prove" portrayal from 2011, just to generate fake "Damian learns to be nicer" character development that he'd already attained in previous series. The whole point of R:SOB (plus the later Tomasi!Damian stories) was that Damian was no longer an S.O.B.
I'll still gobble up anything with Robin or a Robin in it, though.

Date: 2016-10-03 09:16 pm (UTC)On Gar and Dick's relationship, and if there is any, one of the many things that's been racking my brain about Judas Contract Rebirth is if they'd do that story without Gar. Given Rebirth Titans is very TT v1 centric I wouldn't be surprised if they squeezed Gar on there since he was part of that era as some kid member along with Tara. It can be just him or maybe tack on other NTT characters and say it's part of that mysterious period where Dick was Nightwing and hung with Roy and Kory if that's even a thing still.
