This comic feels like it's modernizing Taxi-Driver the same way Mr. Robot modernized Fight Club. Especially with the New York setting (and New York being really different from back then).
Hopefully it'll have a few new ideas up it's sleeve since we have tons of grim toxic masculinity vigilante stories, but so far it's interesting.
Also I hope Kira becomes a way more complex character as we figure out her deal. So far the story hasn't treated her well, although that's partially since we're so stuck in Dylan's head.
Also Sean Phillips improved alot since the first issues of Criminal.
Well that's one new idea, that he's a fairly normal guy who wouldn't even think of killing anybody but now is forced to do it. He's very much isn't a "badass" or framed as one... yet.
But I'm hoping for a few more thematic ideas that Taxi-Driver and stories like that haven't covered.
I like how conflicted this guy is about his first kill, to the point that he can't even remember what he said (if anything) to justify it to Mark before he pulled the trigger, and how he even seems to be insisting a little too hard that he's absolutely sure Mark knew why this was happening.
Okay, drug dealer guy there sells me on this comic as something cool. Because it tells me that they're actually going for a realistic feel, rather than the sub-Noir sensationalism most criminals dramaish stuff goes for.
