Would they really be that impressed by a body count of 237? Isn't that, like, Joker's work in a couple of weeks? Probably even Weskler there killed at least a hundred people.
Anyway, I'm glad Weskler is back. I did like Sugar and I'm sad she is gone, but I'm just glad any Ventriloquist gets some page time. Terribly underused villain.
On that point, of all the people in Arkham *Selina* is the one on death row?
... Also, frankly, why is she there in the first place? She's one of the sanest of Batman's rogue gallery by any measure. Nothing about this makes sense.
Yeah, I'm thrown here, too. I mean, I could see her getting harsher sentencing because she's sane, but as a sane criminal, I'd think she would be in Blackgate, or someplace similar. Did they stick her in Arkham because that's where they keep costumed types as a matter of policy?
For that matter, I didn't think Selina was a killer. 237 counts of murder? Seriously?
I'll grant that's plausible (although I don't know, is that number high for
someone operating as a mob boss for only a short time? It seems a little
high), but how would that land her in Arkham?
My absolute favorite scene like that is in The Devil's Advocate, where a gang boss boasts to Joker how many people he is killed in an effort to intimidate him. It ends with Joker beating him to death with a shoe.
I remember that. I wasn't fond of the story as a whole (I'm 100% in the "you don't want to kill the Joker, fine, but at least don't save his life!" camp), but that scene was seriously fantastic :D
237 deaths? When did Catwoman become a mass murderer? Is this from one incident or have I been not paying attention when DC turned her into the Punisher or something?
I haven't heard anything about this. I know she had a stint as a crime boss a while back (good comic run. Way better than what happened with Black Cat), but at best, I recall only 1 death that can be tied back to her during that.
So, I'm guessing this has to be a mystery currently. We'll find out soon enough (I'm guessing she was blamed for something). Also, she has a special one-shot comic coming next month where everything seems to be fine. Things will probably be alright when this story arc is over.
Selina's body count's got me confused as anybody else but Wesker's return makes me wonder if he'll become the Ventriloquist again, which I hope not in that he was always one of the Bat rogues I'd always wanted to see actually get redeemed and him being a "well-known but not as popular as other bat villains" bat villain it be probably easier for him to maintain his reformation and a legacy...even though Simone's Ventriloquist (in Batgirl, I have no clue what went on in S6) wasn't very engaging and poorly named to boot, really she'd make more sense being the new Puppeteer what with her supposed telekinetic powers, but still rather her being the villain under that name and let Wesker get some peace. Or bring back Sugar and let Shauna be The Puppeteer. That works too.
The hell's this '237 murders' crap? That's a put-on, right? Or a UC thing? Because I've always pegged Selina as a Blackgater, not an Arkhamite.
Anyway the art's great, as usual. Batman really should have an insincere smile detector at this point, because look at Wesker's face on that last panel.

Date: 2016-10-19 11:05 pm (UTC)It definitely had that feel. Between his speech and the mask, the scene was clearly baiting the Joker, before switching us to Selina.
My wife chimes in to note that the sense this doesn't make is why she doesn't read DC comics anymore.
