The Otto-bot manages to get his corpse to the Jackal for regeneration. However since he "died" with Peter's mind in his body the new body will have his consciousness. Otto loads his consciousness into the body and fights him.
Apparently Miles Warren has figured out how to integrate psychometry into his cloning process.
Empaths and clairvoyants and other psychics can pick up psychic echoes of people and events from crimes scenes and objects long after they're gone. What they were experiencing, their emotions. Warren has somehow figured out how to get an echo of a person's entire mind just before death from the corpse itself, and then transfer that into clones.
Does that really work though? From what I've seen truly bringing people back to life is in the realm of the gods—even Dr. Strange isn't supposed to be able to manage it, with the implication that trying would result in horrible consequences rather than just not working.
Consequences will come to him by the end of the event, but i get the feeling that is what is needed to say he is truly bringing people back to life rather than just making clones.
They're clones for lack of a better word. They're grown from the DNA of the original and retain all of the original's memories to the point of their death.
Well the way they view it is that it's "reanimation" but they all know that they died and were brought back via the Jackal. The whole transhumanist aspect hasn't been explored much yet.
Well no, it's a copy of his mind during the Superior storyline, but before the very end when he realized that Peter was better at being Spider-Man than him and did the whole heroic sacrifice thing.
That seems a little weird, like losing the skin on your arm to a bad burn and having it grow back with the tattoos still in place. I'll just chalk it up to comic book science and move on.
I always kind of took it as "that sounds weird (or whatever) to me, but I can't be bothered to really care. You do you."
Plus, I think it goes further in a place like the Marvel universe. "Huh, you were bitten by a radioactive spider? Well, who am I to judge? I had a radioactive wildebeest in my pants and was revived thanks to a mix of black magic and science. Takes all kinds, I suppose."
Yeah, he's not there NOW, but the fact that he was there at all kind of makes you wonder.
Also, for all this talk of eliminating genetic defect,s you'd think maybe fewer of these clones would need glasses (or you know, maybe make Otto a little more trim).
And how has the Jackal gone backwards when it comes to understanding cloning? He seemed to have perfected it with Ben Reilly, after all.
It's a new cloning process. It's not the same as Ben or Kaine. I don't know if there's room for 'customization' either beyond restoring to the body's prime state.
I'm disappointed that Doctor Octopus is back and apparently Full Evil again. I was hoping that MAYBE, juuuuuuust maybe, having A) spent a significant amount of time trying to be a better person, and B) having been DEAD, for at least the second time, he might try to grow and change.
Maybe he'll turn on the Jackal and renounce his evil--- HAH, yeah right. Sigh.
I'm worried about how this is going to end. We're seeing all these dead characters brought back to life, and this means that either they die again (Gwen, Captain Stacy, Prowler, Rhino's wife, New Electro, Marla, etc) or they're somehow stabilized and stick around, which might be extremely awkward.
I expect we'll see a few last, somehow. New Electro, Prowler, Doctor Octopus... but for MAXIMUM PATHOS, Rhino's wife, Lizard's family, Marla, the Stacys--anyone not a hero/villain will go kerplot.
It's not clear how 'evil' he is here or what his endgame is now that's he's back in his body (beyond trying to win back Anna-Maria). I guess we'll see what happens.
For a second I thought that the consciousness controlling the Superior Spider-Man gauntlet was a copy of Ock's, and I was completely charmed by the idea of Doc Ock having a tiny little sycophantic robot version of himself that follows him around heaping him with praise.
Anyone want to give odds on the resolution/defeat of the Jackle hinging on the Peter consciousness in Ock's brain reasserting itself and Spider!Peter teaming up with Spider!Ock?

Date: 2016-10-19 04:44 pm (UTC)Also, the fact Peter is in Otto's cloned body kind of raises the question of what the means for Peter Parker.
Also geez, Otto doesn't look like a guy 'vital and in his prime'.
