Wensday comics : Kamandi

This is a re-imagining of the original Kamandi story by Jack Kirby. So far its a bit different that the original and I wonder how well it will work without Kirby's art style,but we shall see. I have posted both the ok and the new to get a taste the differnces.

This proves to me the original can't be touched, as good as Gibbons & Sook's looks. For one thing, though, it's a very different approach. Instead of ripping off PLANET OF THE APES, we rip off Hal Foster.

TELL me that doesn't look like a Prince Valiant or Tarzan page. I don't just mean the captions-only. I'm assuming that's totally on purpose, I was just pointing it out.

I do agree with you about the way a narration works like "Prince Valiant". I suppose there is some poit to this technique of telling the story as a reminiscence instead of a boy venturing out into a world he has only read and heard about. I am willing to give it a chance before trashing it. :)

Oh I know what you mean. I would have to say I agree 90% what you mean. Even in the original when Kirby stopped doing the art it just wasn't the same and didn't work half as well.

I just sense they team doing this has some point to make , I mean why would you just do a rehash ? I'm just saying will wait and see, give it a chance. If it doesn't work I shall have no mercy in my review :)

For issue 3? I don't see how that changes things for issue 1, which your scan comes from. And yes, while it does mean four parts to each individual story, the rule's still five parts to each individual issue.

I don't know what you are refering to with this.

Its an anthology, People have posted whole stories out of single books if it was less than 1/3 of the 32 page total. Are you saying people should post all 12 parts of the catwoman story so long as it falls as less that 5 on an individual release of the comics strip ???
Issue ? as I said you can get the 3 of the singles stories of the DC web page. the post is also an editorial about the contrast of the original story as opposed to the new material.:)

I was trying to parse your "Book ? three of the wensday comics stories were available indiviually for promosional material" and thought the ? might've been a typo.

But, if you read my comment earlier, and followed the link, the official mod stance on Wednesday Comics is 1/3 of the issue and 1/3 of the story, which means you can only post 5 of the 15 strips in any one issue, and 4 of the overall 12 strips any one story will produce throughout the whole run. It's both.

kingrockwell is correct in that we are already over our limit for the first issue of Wednesday Comics. There is room for one more scan for #2, and I don't believe anyone has posted anything from this week's issue yet.

To clarify, the mods decided that when it comes to Wednesday Comics, members can post 1/3 of a single issue (so a maximum of 5 strips from each issue may be posted), and 1/3 of one ongoing story (so only 4 out of all 12 Supergirl strips may be posted).

To sum up: you need to please remove the Wednesday Comics scan from this post, but feel free to replace it with a scan from a different issue of Wednesday Comics.

Jack Kirby made Kamandi and his world look amazing. Ryan Soon does not do Kamandi justice.
