A good issue, with some of the most memorable panels from the Ennis/Dillon run.
The only headscratchy thing for me is when the King of Vampires claims that after the physical universe is gone, his kind will still be alive. Be they asleep or awake, I don't see how. Vampires are immortal, yes, but they still have bodies and therefore would still need nourishment.
Not that that'll be a concern for ol' Kingy, of course. Nor for his broken-hearted disciple who, later in this issue, decides to join his king by getting some sun.
Ennis's vampires in this and Preacher don't seem to have too many of the typical "rules." The King won't die if he stops drinking blood; he seems to think he'll just quietly sleep forever. Like Cassidy, the only thing that seems able to actually kill him is sunlight, and anything else is an inconvenience at best.
Ennis trivia: the second disciple in this issue, the one who doesn't cap himself, would go on to pick an entirely unwise fight with Tommy Monaghan in Hitman.
