The Guardians being stranded on Earth is totally asinine, and precisely what I'd expect from Bendis. No spacecraft available? I can think of a ton of examples from just the past few years where Earthers travelled to other star systems with faster-than-light craft.
Yeah. It's not like Earth is entirely devoid of interstellar-capable spacecraft, people capable of building spacecraft, people capable of calling for a ride, and/or other aliens with a spacecraft. Hell, Captain Marvel currently runs Alpha Flight, which is overseen by an intergalactic consortium, and surely she could find her friends a new ship given that they were there on her behalf. Even just a loaner or the equivalent of space Uber to get them back to Knowhere.
They should be stuck for a week, tops. They've all taken longer vacations on Earth during the downtime in their own series.
Bendis actually tried to explain this in his TUmblr Page, basically that a spaceship is not something the heroes of earth can let you borrow that easily, which of course still leaves unanswered that Earth still has means to communicate with interstellar-capable species and ask THEM for a lift.
So they're going with the "these red marks are things I made to remind me of my past" thing that was in a deleted scene from the Guardians of the Galaxy movie for comics!Drax (even though comics!Drax's markings are much simpler)?
I think ideally the team would be fractured, with Angela wanting to support Carol because of her authoritarian stance, The Thing wanting to stay out of the fight due to the first Civil War mess and what it did to his family, and the rest taking Tony's side due to their rebellious nature. Just my opinion.
I am not so sure Angela would be completely on board, though. Her philosophy is equal exchange. A crime that did not happen would mean an undeserved punishment.
I guess the point is that when it comes to major threats it is better to err on the side of caution (i.e. suiting up to go after Thanos), but when it comes to friends/allies it's best to give them the benefit of the doubt. So while I agree that Carol was right to lead an attack against Thanos, I don't think she has been right at any other time.
What I find especially sad is it appears when all this is over she's going to be seen as a hero. :/
Carol was right to go after Thanos, but she was wrong to only bring who she did. Thanos is not a 'whoever happens to be at the base' level threat, he's a 'get every heavy hitter you can ASAP' level threat. If Carol had called in the various Avenger and X-men teams, there a good chance they could have taken him without major casualties.
It's been a while since I followed Guardians, but shouldn't it be Drax getting the need to murder upon hearing that Thanos is in the same solar system, not Gamora?
Also, really, if the Guardians were stuck on Earth for a while (which makes no sense, but okay), Alpha Flight would be offering them a job as consultants, at the very least.

I'm starting to wonder if Bendis has ever even read an issue of X-Men he didn't write...
