The amusing part, at least to me, is how no one gets the irony of the situation.

Not to mention, "Oh no, we will be replaced... because our children will have powers we don't," overlooks that their children will replace them anyway *because that's what children are for*. It happens literally every generation.

I could see unaging mutants worrying about it, but these people all have normal lifespans to my knowledge.

I think some do, like Colossus and Beast and even Magneto, but are too distraught (for various reasons) to express it in the wake of an infanticide.

Seems like a dangerous precedent too, given how widely varied mutant power levels are. Just among the Acolytes, Scanner's power is astral projection, whereas Exodus is basically a god.

Yea. Mutants *already* have gigantic variation, power-switching doesn't change much.

Or at the very least, a few dissenting voices. It looks like this 'What If...' should be about Magneto controlling (sort of) a handful of mutants in a powderkeg.

I mean, there are only two factions with two schools of thought? "Kill all the humans and take the Earth" or "Leave the Earth forever for the vastness of space"? That seems to leave a lot of wiggle room.

Ah, but those are utility shoulder pads, they contain emergency food supplies, a canteen of water, some cash, two changes of clothing and a collapsible hang glider.
