What an odd double standard for nudity. Going off these scans, Cersei, who is a grown woman, has her breasts obscured, but an underage character like Daenerys is exposed. That's kind of icky.
Not that it makes it much better but: In panels not shown here (specifically the "revelation" scene from Bran's POV when he finds Jaime and Cersei), you do in fact see Cersei's breasts.
I know that they've gone out their way not to let the characters look like their TV counterparts, but damn if I don't hear the actors' voices when I read their parts.
That's why I thought GRRM wasn't ever going to finish the books. The show has been wildly successful, and people are going to remember that over the books, even if he gets a chance to test out the final books "on-cam" as the first draft so to speak.
Oh wow. Atleast the show aged up Danaerys, y'know? I don't remember the book explicitly detailing her body in this scene so I don't know what the hell the artist is playing at.
Actually, what the hell is going on? Sansa is supposed to be 12, Myrcella is ten at this point, but they both look about the same age as Dany.
Also, again. Fucken show us that Arya's stitches are crooked or that Dany is visibly afraid. Don't just lift bits and pieces of prose from the books because you don't know how to do visual storytelling.
hmmm. did Drago ask for consent in the book? I remember being confused... I think people have said the book showed that Dany was consenting... what I mean is, out of all the scenes in the book it was the more consenting and they chose to make that more rapey in the show (which makes the relationship weirder if not for the chemistry between the two characters and a massive switch in the relationship on screen...) does any of this make sense?
Yes that's how the scene goes in the books, with her saying 'yes'. Although later on he just takes her whenever he feels like it per Dothraki custom regardless if she wants it and doesn't bother doing anything else with her (i.e. any form of socializing, he's with his men the rest of the day) until she manages to 'win' him over and establish herself.
I *think* GRRM said in retrospect the first scene in the book was too romanticized given what goes on later and the nature of the Dothraki in general.
oh. so the tv version where he was a more... insistent, and then caring was better because it made more sense to de-escalate? (I kinda loved it in the show, because the actors had great chemistry. and the affection seemed more natural)
