Boy, this story really just sort of throws up its hands at the end, doesn't it? Between this and AvX, "Phoenix will fix it all if you just rules-lawyer her into it" is becoming the new "a wizard did it."

I know he's done some awful things but it's frustrating how annoyed everyone is with Magneto when he's being the voice of reason.

Of course Cyclops has always been a hero (except when possessed) and people treat him like a monster.

The X-Men have some messed up values these days.

I'm curios whether it reads better as a whole without pages and panels missing if I ever get to read the book.

The Phoenix didn't actually have to do anything though... strange way to resolve all of this. And being the embodiment of life does not mean only championing human life... animals should be fine too. So it's strange that the Phoenix is so human-centric here, but let's call that Jean's influence.

The Phoenix started having a preference for sapient life ever since a sapient being first bonded to it?

yeah most likely, it's a fair plot point for a cosmic entity to have bias I guess, a nice side effect of possessing another sentient creature, it begins to think on their terms too.

wish they'd play with that concept within the actual text though.
