So what-if. Much old-school.

I have but one question: how does Juggernaut use telepathy in his helmet? Isn't it telepathy-proofed like the usual one?

I want to say it's probably set so it can 'send' but not 'receive' telepathic pushes... but then i assume telepathy needs to be a two way thing in most useful instances. Maybe he can fine tune it to only send and receive his 'signal' if that's a thing.

That's good reasoning but we all understand the authors wanted to maintain iconic look without its iconic features in this case (special psychicly impregnable metal etc. etc.).

Or maybe his helmet's got tiiiiiiny holes for telepathy and ventilation! Like a colander.

I expect he takes it off when he wants to do that.

He is invulnerable anyway, the helm just protects from telepathic powers, which Xavier is probably well set up to do anyway. Incidentally, outside earths magnetic field his range is vastly amplified, so I expect some alien would pick him up before long.

Maybe this Juggernaut uses a different version of that helmet? It's not like Xavier needs the telepathic protection.

Apparently, this was originally going to be a completely different plot where Xavier-as-Juggernaut was a hero. But the editor, while liking the premise, wanted him as a villain, so Kurt Busiek restarted from square one.

Wonder if this What-If was the inspiration for the later storyline revealing that Cyttorak (the demon god whose gem empowers Juggernaut) had originally wanted Xavier to become Juggernaut in the first place, but Cain Marko got his hands on the gem instead.
