Captain America can breath in space?

They're on the Blue Area of the moon, which has an atmosphere.

At the time I remembered thinking this is how Civil War would end, with the much bigger Annihilation event crashing into it.

It does make for a more satisfying ending, doesn't it?

I seem to remember reading that one of the original outlines for Civil War had its ending tied up with WWH. And then they decided to use it as the spine for several years of status quo, and avert the traditional "outside threat makes the conflict meaningless and everyone puts their differences aside" style ending.

They share a tender kiss, their first--and last--and share a lingering, meaningful gaze. So much time, wasted. So many arguments. Richard Rider coughs, uncomfortable at witnessing this intimate moment.

The three turn to look at the sky. "Here they come," says Cap. "How many do you think there are?"

"Not enough," says Tony. "Gentlemen, let's do this."

And so Civil War began again, only this time, Annihilus lost when he attempted to intervene and speak up for Jurassic Park III.

It doesn't end with "everybody's dead, the dirigible is in flames, and I've lost my hat."
