Sonny Liew has 6 nominations in total. I'm pleased for John Allison to be nominated again, and to see Thor being nominated as best ongoing.

And I've now had retrospective dinner with an Eisner nominee; hopefully it can be with an Eisner winner.

Lots of good things that I'm happy to see nominated, and I love the Eisner Awards, but I have to say I still find it deeply weird how "International" is typically a separate category in American awards. Also, if you use Eisner as a guide to try out new things like I do, and you think something called Goodnight Punpun sounds promising, I'd like to give you all the trigger warnings. All. of. them. And I'm not talking about cheap gore or shock value. This comic will tear your heart apart, run over it a few with a steamroller, come back when you think it's over, put out cigarettes on what's left of it, and leave it to dry on the dirty, rundown asphalt of a decrepit urbanscape.

my only complaint with Monstress was that I wished that the palette was more differentiated from character to character. I found myself rereading because I had mixed up characters.

as art, amazing and lovely. I'm rooting for her too.

I'm so happy that Mockingbird and Chelsea Cain got nominations but it also reminds me how ANGEY I am that Marvel cancelled the series.

I'd love to know what kind of impact the kerfuffle about the last cover had on sales. I know of at least one person who discovered the book that way and immediately preordered the trade.

The main character has engaged in cannibalism. Gore factor is high. Betrayal of sympathetic characters happens. The organizations make Hunger Games look nice.

Other than Maika being literally a teen, how is this a teen comic?
