Bought a cute little book of Disney Princess Newspaper style strips. Here are some of my favourites, including what happened on Ariel's wedding night...
















I am partial to the Ariel ones. There's some good ones here for all the Disney Princesses aside from the Frozen ones (maybe because they have their own comic). I'll definitely post more when Christmas comes.

I love her Pocket Princesses strips on tumblr, which unlike the official comics can have different princesses interacting.

Of the official comics, I only have the Tangled one, which is *fantastic* ^^

They aren't official Disney Princesses believe it or not (on the strength of them being such a merch juggernaut that they didn't need the boost/might overwhelm the rest of the line)

Oh I knew they wern't part of the line; I just figured they might be interesting as 4-panels, which the Frozen book is not.

But then this is Disney, and they won't let you take people out of their worlds in Kingdom Hearts, and they wouldn't let you mix and match in Infinity.

For the precise reason that they don't want princesses to have canon relationships, so little girls can decide that X and Y princesses are best friends and nothing contradicts it.

It's strange because in the last few years Disney's produced Once Upon a Time and the Descendants which both have a lot of different Disney characters interacting and in some disturbing cases procreating.

Is it that those franchises adapt the characters and properties so that they are different enough from the source material that Disney doesn't mind?

I think it is that exactly, both of those are subversion of Standard Disney lore where Kingdom Hearts plays it more straight.


But in the case of Once Upon a Time when they put in Frozen they did play it completely straight and apparently had Disney watching them very closely... it's so straight that OUaT could be a canon sequel to Frozen. I just wish the characters would show up again, FrozenSwan is my OTP!

Quite. Descendants is clearly a separate universe which is also following separate characters and all that.

Probably. Aside from Frozen OUAT has never really marketed itself as being a Disney show and when they use Disney elements it's very loose (Rumple as the Beast).

There's also Merida, Maleficent, Cruella De vile, and Ursula. It's not like it ever shied away from paying homage to Disney, but yeah it distinguishes itself quite nicely.

Still it's kinda funny how similar it is to Kingdom Hearts what with the crystal hearts and whatnot.
