Even when writing a mother/daughter relationship (which took less than a year to be retconned), Chris Claremont can't help but add sapphic overtones.

I really liked this story, especially Jessica's joy at being human again and reveling in the day with all of her senses.

Even though this was retconned, there is still stuff about Jessica's parents being Hydra that Bendis brings up. Unless Bendis means Otto Vermis, there isn't anything that says Jonathan and Meriem Drew were Hydra.
