They idea of Hydra-Cap being able to wield Mjolnir is flatly ridiculous.

The ur-example of the villain/antihero who seems malevolent, but truly has the world's best interests at heart, in his way, is Doom.

He has never been able to lift it.

Absolutely. I'm still hoping there's some in-story explanation, but I suspect the explanation is actually, "It would be cool and scary!!!"

IMO it's pretty dumb that this story about fascism overtaking America has been reduced to a scavenger hunt where the heroes need to collect all the pieces of the McGuffin to wish America back to normal. What happened to a good old fashioned story about the resistance rising up and overthrowing the evil empire?

The Democrats aren't doing a whole lot to mobilize ground support and the investigation is taking a while Probably "comics!", although there might be an element of MCU synergy with the whole Infinity Stones/Gauntlet deal, I'm not sure.

New Tain made Hank their ambassador after some of the shit he's been pulling lately? That's surprising. It wasn't that long ago that Storm needed to shoot him in the back so he wouldn't prevent them from saving mutantkind.

Also, is Hank going bald?

Well, one could say that by making Hank ambassador, it's their way of making sure he's always off visiting other people and not being around to annoy them.
And as an upside, if he's dealing with Hydra, they might decide to kill him. They get rid of Hank and get to declare war on the stinking hu-... err, Hydra. Everybody wins!

Watching this exchange, I could almost see it being by Steve's own insistence that he be the one put in place.

Actually, that makes a huge amount of sense. Of all the X-Men, Hydra Cap probably knows Hank the best, but that knowledge doesn't go the other way, so Hydra Cap gets a clear advantage here.
