Batman/Elmer Fudd Special #1

Elmer Fudd wants to kill Bugs for killing Silver St. Cloud, but lets him live when Bugs tells him that he was hired by Bruce Wayne.



After shooting Bruce, Elmer is followed and attacked by Batman.



Elmer mentions what happened to Silver.



Batman tells Elmer that Bruce survived, and that he was innocent. They confront Bugs for answers, and it's revealed Silver is still alive.

The visual translations of the Looney Tunes characters into gritty noir Gotham might just be the best thing about this.

All the major Looney Tunes outside of the Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote are present, some more so than others (particularly Daffy Duck only gets a panel).

I have a hard time classifying this as playing it straight when they kept his speech impediment in both the captions and the title.

I'm not sure about this, but I loved the Wonder Woman and Tasmanian Devil one. And the Wile E. and Lobo wasn't too bad either.

Well, it kinda leaves things up in the air on that front. But he does get props from Kilowog, even an offer to join the Corps. And ends up with a ring he pockets in the midst of it all.

Lobo doesn't fare any better than him with Roadrunner either.

I'm buying (and laughing at so hard at) Fudd and Porky, but Bugs doesn't feel right.

Yeah, gray, shiny Andersoon Cooper hair, styled a la Robin's hair from The Batman.

Robin's two bangs totally lend the rabbit ears vibe, especially in pics where they get all windswept.

Yeah. I like the general concept, but Bugs needs work. Brownie points to the colorist for shading his hands to look like paws, though.

Agreed. I like the rest, but Bugs looks terrible.

As an embodiment of the Trickster, Bugs would be better suited to tying the Joker and Riddler in knots.

I seriously want DC to go all in on those inter-property crossovers! A strike team of Batman, Duck Dodgers, Space Ghost, the Green Ranger and Michaelangelo has never been more in reach.

Also, what's the deal with the Looney Tunes here? Have they gone all Homeless New Gods and disguised themselves as humans, or have they always been human?

Each issue seems to be in its own continuity. In this one they're all humans including Marvin the Martian while in the Martian Manhunter issue Marvin looked more like his classical look, same for the Tasmanian Devil, and I'm pretty sure that Bugs was an actual bunny in the Legion of Superheroes crossover. So in this one they've all always been human but the other ones do it differently.

Thanks! Shame they haven't tried to canon weld these specials, although I guess it's okay since it allows for different portrayals. Case in point: I just got back from reading the Legion Special, and it was hilarious old-school fun.

These have all been pretty fantastic (except maybe the Wonder Woman/Taz one), but this or the Jonah Hex/Yosemite Sam one were the best of the lot.
