Last week we learned who would play Starfire in the forthcoming Titans TV series;
The frankly stunning Anna Diop has been cast as Koriand'r of Tamaran

The casting of an African American in such a pivotal role has generated some positive feedback, as has Ms Diop's acting talents (I'm happy to say).
And news just in is that m'boy Dick Grayson will be played by the amazingly named Brenton Thwaites. last seen in Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Men Tell No Tales as Henry Turner, son of Elizabeth Swann and Will Turner (Or Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom if you prefer).

And here are some other Dick Grayson appropriate images I also found, which I post for no real reason. Ahem... ;)

Geoff Johns comment was "Brenton has the emotional depth, heart, danger and physical presence of Batman's former protege and the Titans' future leader. We're extremely lucky he's chosen to bring his talents to this project and this character"
And of course, there is one invaluable asset that he will be judged by....

Not bad... it's probably unfair to expect any mortal to match the ass of Dick Grayson, but life is cruel sometimes. (Besides, there's alsways padding, and if necessary CGI!
He has had a naked butt shot in "Son of a Gun", but those are not safe for work, so you can go looking for those yourself, they're not hard to find.
Based on the casting as "Dick Grayson", and the comment from Johns, my bet is that he'll start as either Robin, or having just given up the role of Robin, and end up being Nightwing as the series progresses.
Whether they embrace his Romani background will be interesting. It's a relatively recent addition, and it's hardly something DC has been consistent about themselves, but we'll see.
Also, apropos of very little that makes two Australians on the team, as both Thwaites, and Teagen Croft, who has been cast as Raven are Aussies.

I'm guessing there might be some hair-dye in her future as I'm not sure the world is ready for a blonde Raven!
I also leave it to your own inclinations as to which pairing of the three you view as "Power couple" because I have no wish to be prescriptive about such things. :)
Apparently, other characters confirmed to be showing up are Hawk and Dove (using the Hank Hall and Dawn Grainger iteration) and Detective Amy Rohrbach (Who was Dick's partner on the Bludhaven Police Department pre New52)

Who were you thinking of?

Date: 2017-09-01 10:01 am (UTC)Donna Troy - Probably tied up with Wonder Woman rights, something of a mess without reference to the Amazons and not sure they'd want to do that.
Omen - They have Raven, so they don't really need another psychic.
Herald - Fair point, though I've never been sure how you'd make "His powers are based on him tooting his magic trumpet" look anything other than silly in live action.
Bumblebee - Good choice, and a nice mirror for the Atom in LoT, might need to work on the name, given Hasbro are suing Warners over the use of the name as a toy, but a strong contender I'd say.
Tempest/Aqualad - A distinct possibility, though ironically, they're looking to cast the TV Aquaman as Hawk) though might suffer from the usual "He's the only one who can actually operate underwater, so it's hard to use him long term in non water-set stories". Even the current Titans seems uncertain how to use him beyond "Strong guy who keeps saying he's from Atlantis without that actually being relevant to anything" though that might be changing with him recently shown reluctantly using his water magic .

There was one instance of a new writer putting in a retcon where he spends the night with Barbara when he's delivering the invitation to his wedding to Kory (called off due to demonic lesbian Raven attack and an exploding minister, but that's another story) and it was just "Nope, no way, no how" from pretty much everyone who read it, if felt very out of character.

Date: 2017-09-02 01:14 am (UTC)As for Hawk and Dove...I feel like they work better as guest stars than part of the main lineup. I'm fighting to see them in a protagonist-lineup capacity, but the doubt and/or suspicions-of-Executive-Meddling keeps winning. Holding pattern until further notice.
