As a pet owner, sometimes you ar enot aware of that when thinking of your own dog. you may know objectively that dogs only live that long, but sometimes it is hard to remember that when thinking of your dog, particularly if they have always been healthy.

Yep. This. I have three older dogs, and I try to forget how old they are, every damn chance I get.

Once you start thtowing magical fusions into the mix, he might have assumed that Hank would live as long as he himself would.

If this wasn't Astro City I'd worry that he might actually be right with that thanks to the fusion.

I love that Astro City is home to concepts such as this. Living Barbie-style action figures, chibi heroes, every sort of pastiche and homage possible... and a man who fuses with a corgi and is better for it.

I really want to know what happens next because I trust Busiek to tell a worthy story, but I'm also afraid it'll be sad as well.

Well this story was completely different then what I was expecting (a genetically modified dog becoming a superhero). It's much better than I thought it would be.
