This is always been one of my favorite Lovecraft stories, and I feel like it could be adapted into a children's story rather easily.

I also love the artist. He's done a bunch of DnD walkthrough maps where he leads a party through a famous DnD dungeon with hilarious results.

I particularly like Thompson's simple but powerful depiction of the grieving, angry Menes; it gives the story more emotional resonance than is usually found in Lovecraft's more detached prose.

I'm not even a cat-lover (allergies are so severe that I get puffy-eyed if I'm even in the same BUILDING as a cat) and this story has me rooting for cats. This story is proof that there was more to Lovecraft than fear of the unknown, fear of seafood, and fervent racism.

Man, it's been a while since I've posted here. Haven't been in the mood for comics stuff over the past year, but it's good to be back.
