This issue was such a goddamn waste of time

It was just rehashing what we already know. Grail is killing demigods to empower baby Darkseid and age him. Except this time they dedicated the whole issue to that. Diana wasn't even in her own book except in flashbacks and on that tv screen. None of her supporting cast either, except for murdered half siblings she never met.

Or was Diana Darkseid's daughter also at one retcon?

There is a tumblr blog that is NOTHING BUT pictures of Darkseid sitting in a chair. He does it often enough in comics that it's either a running gag (from Kirby's original works) or just a trope. Everyone from Kirby to Alan Moore to John Byrne to Ty Templeton have had him do it.

I was expecting the end of "The World at War", where Darkseid had accepted some of Diana's power to save.... whatever the plot device of that story was, he'd gloated about how he had won, and she had lost, but she pointed out that when he'd taken in her power, he'd had to take in some compassion and mercy too, and those were going to live in him for as long as he existed. He is NOT pleased.
