Ideally I’d like to see more housecleaning- the fact it took so much public exposure in order to make this happen doesn’t speak too well of their standing policies.

Still, glad he’s gone.

Wouldn't it be nice to see companies start to spontaneously eject people like this -before- they are publicly exposed?

The running theme of this phenomenon is that the infrastructure of the various businesses/industries knew what was happening, but did nothing. Why not take the opportunity to kick out the guy you -know- is a dickhead while you have the chance?

Every harasser is a ticking timebomb in addition to being an active talent drain.

It's the same with any criminal: getting away with their misdeeds emboldens them, and they escalate. Thieves, serial killers, and sex criminals.

And good riddance.

I hope they let the door hit him on the way out. Hard.

Well, that's that. Now all that's left is the slim hope of female creators returning to comics to create new stories unmolested.

Finally!! No when can we see his protectors fired too? And Dan DiDio too, if he isn't implicated anyway.

Berganza's firing is a long-overdue consequence for his behaviour, and may bring some satisfaction to the women at DC whom he harassed. Emphasis on "some." His dismissal can't compensate them for the disruption to their careers when, out of frustration over DC's protecting him, they left the company. Nor does it make up for the squandered creative opportunities, and failure to diversify its creative team, resulting from the publisher protecting Berganza by assigning only men to work with him.

DC's future actions in matters like this will speak louder than its current high-sounding damage control words. Let's hope they've learned their lesson.

Jesus, this guy was still at DC? I'd always assumed he'd been fired already, good riddance.

Nope, the execs upstairs took the usual approach of ignoring when possible, tiny slap on the wrist if there was no other choice. With all the attention the topic has gotten in recent months, that was becoming harder to do. We'll have to see where they go from here.

Is there anyone else this bad at DC? I know the company has a diversity problem, but this is the only sexist dude I've seen named.

No-one else publicly known, but the buzz I gather is there are definitely more problem people in the industry.

I'm not aware of anyone else whose presence was actively causing female comics professionals to quit the company, but he didn't hold on to his job this long by dint of the upper echelons of DC disapproving of workplace harassment in principle and being committed to providing a safe work environment.

Pretty much this. Assholes like this guy are able to remain in their position through a combination of people nearly as bad as them, or people who think it's not a 'real' issue and people are overreacting to it. I'm thinking either enough of those jerks moved on, and the replacements are better able to see the obvious, or the kill order came from Warner Bros, who has to be looking for ways to prove they're not like that.
