scans_dailyAfter a hiatus, we now come to the "Bridge of Tears" arc itself. Preludes can be found here, here and here.
A thief tries to keep a valuable jade piece to himself, but one of his partners finds out and stabs him. He kills his assailant but won't go far with that wound, so he tries to find someone to plant the piece on.
Meanwhile, Usagi and Mayumi arrive at that city, the "next town" the bunny ronin promised to drop her off.
The other thieves figure out he dropped the piece on Mayumi, thinking she was his accomplice. They attack our protagonists, and Usagi saves the day.

They go to an inn to rest before Usagi collects the reward money for the thieves. Mayumi finds out she had the piece, and the ronin decides to give it back to the police and earn an extra reward money for that.
Before they fall asleep, Usagi ponders his situation.
She wakes up looking for him and sees he's still there (because he hasn't yet mustered the courage to walk out on her). Dawn breaks and they watch the sunrise together.
She asks Usagi if he will be back, and he says yes. "I'm such a cad", thinks the bunny.
"It's just a cruel joke. He's waiting on the bridge!", she cries while dropping her money.
After waiting for him almost the whole day, someone approaches her.
There's an epilogue too, but I can remove it if the mods think it counts as page limit. He regrets leaving her and returns, only to find an empty bridge at night.
Now, I said there is no happy ending to this story, but that isn't entirely true. Stan did have a different version planned and ready, he just chose to use the one we got.
Aw, I wanted that ending, although, TBH, I don't see it ending any other way.
It's not the only time Stan does another ending to this story. We'll see his original intent with a second alternate ending down the line.
We skip issue #100, which is a commemorative issue, and resume with "Fever Dream", an interlude that features Chizu the ninja.
