Looks really good although I'm still struggling a bit how they are going to be able to use so many characters effectively. It is a question, though, that shall be answered when the movie comes out.
Cast Herds. It's a small trick often used in tv shows with big casts in which you don't have every character interact with everyone but rahter, you divide everyone in smaller groups and you focus on what the group is doing rather than the individual members.
Best example at the moment would be Game of Thrones, many seasons in and there are some characters who have never interacted because they've always been in different parts of the world, or don't move in the same circles.
They also did this in the recent Arrowverse crossover Crisis on Earth-X. Some of the characters were constantly interacting in order to make sure everybody got screen time. I think it worked.
My guess is she's under cover or is on the run and went underground after the events of Civil War. She helped Steve and company escape Black Panther and it's possible she had to run and so had to hide her signature red locks.
Spike: The lass thought I killed her family. And I'm supposed to, what, complain cuz her's wasn't one of the hundreds of families I did kill? I'm not sayin' you're right, cuz, uh, I'm physically incapable of saying that. But, uh, for a demon I never did think that much about the nature of evil. No. Just threw myself in. Thought it was a party. I liked the rush, I liked the crunch. Never did look back at the victims. Angel: I couldn't take my eyes off them. I was only in it for the evil. That was everything to me. It was art... the destruction of a human being. Jeez, I would've considered Dana a masterpiece.
I've wondered if the MCU Steve Rogers likes "the rush and the crunch" more than he wants to admit, but that's another topic.
He does and I love it. Its such an understated/tragic part of the character. Tony Stark has sever PTSD as a result of being the only one without training for this crap and Stever Rogers became a blood knight at some point during his war.
We've got the Avengers in New York, we have more Avengers and the Black Panther, Winter Soldier and War Machine in Wakanda, we have Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy in space, Dr Strange throwing magic around and Thanos collecting the Infinity Stones.... seems pretty cosmic to me.
But the visual tone isn't very cosmic. (I've been consistently impressed by how much GOTG and Thor actually managed to convey that kind of aesthetic, and this isn't really it)
Like, I doubt we're going to get Celestials throwing planets or people being buried under layers of time or all those other kind of funky stuff.
Again, might be more than we've seen, but what we've seen looks a bit too low-key for my tastes for this kind of story.
From what I've heard this is NOT really an adaptation of the Infinity Gauntlet. like most Marvel movies it's going to be a hodgepodge of elements from various comic stories without being a straight adaptation of any of them.
Oh, man, there's no way this can live up to all the hype and it's going to be so bloated and what the hell is with Loki over there, I thought he was redeemed, and why is Black Widow blonde, and--
The Fox deal is still in the works,so we may see the FF, and the X-Men show up in part 2....also, when the hell are we gonna get some legit Nova Corps action? I keep hearing rumors about Richard Rider ?
This looks very cool, though I find it difficult to get excited when we're just being shown action sequences, I'm far more interested in the character dynamics of this whole thing. I'm also very... let's say interested, as to if/how this movie will work as a satisfying unit given that the actual conclusion will come in Infinity War.
With the massive cast and the idea that this is a finale before things move on, i found myself thinking about how there's definitely going to be a bit of a divide between people who go into the MCU from the get go and are more attached to the Phase One character, and those who go in later. I mean, I just find myself struggling to imagine how I could ever care about Doctor Strange or Ant-Man the way I do Iron Man or Captain America.

Why Blonde though?

Date: 2017-11-29 03:49 pm (UTC)I had hoped if they ever did a Black Widow movie, it would have both Natasha and Yelena. Yelena would be the Spike to Nat's Angel, or some other Whedon-based analogy. They both did awful, awful things as assassins, but the blonde one is more blasé about it... at first. The Angel episode "Damage" has what I hoped they would use.
