One's Johnny Storm, the other one is Golden Age Human Torch, Jim Hammond, distinguishable from Johnny by not having a face when he Flames On. He was part of the West Coast Avengers at the time.
I wonder if the characters have realized, in-universe, that massive hero deaths mean a certain reality reboot. If I remembered twenty different times when my buddies died only for those events to be later undone, I imagine I'd be pretty cavalier about the twenty-first time.
I *have* seen increased in-universe awareness that no one stays dead, probably due to the multiple resurrections that are part of most characters' histories. Haven't seen the heroes take the next logical step, though.
Even so, resurrections in Marvel are random and the characters have no real assurance that they'll get everyone back. I'm reminded of an X-men issue (can't recall which one) where Psylocke comes back from the dead and everyone is celebrating her return except Rachel Summers, who is upset about the fact that seemingly every X-man has been resurrected except for her mom.
There was also X-Factor (or Madrox) which dealt with Banshee's death, where everyone accepts it as final or at least serious, but his daughter Siryn, treats it as no big deal. Of course, Banshee is not some big name character, so it would be a long time before anybody would resurrect him even for shock value. As it stands, he was, I think, a Horsemen of the Apocalypse? And still not fully, un-eviled from that.
I'm a bit fascinated by the number of major (or at least, book holding) heroes who were either off planet or among the disappeared. ALL of the Fantastic Four and Alpha Flight. 4/5'sth of X-Factor. Most of the New Warriors. Daredevil.
And as I recall, the X-Office editor basically said, "Nah, we think this is going to fail, so we don't want our characters in it at all" and only begrudgingly offered up Scott and Logan to participate (witness how much more the X-characters participate in the next two Infinity____" events).
I also see that board and wonder about the vast number of C-List and below heroes that disappeared that no one knew or cared about.
With this event, like all "all hands on deck" crossover events, I'm always amused by who shows up in general. It's like "who's around and popular and active today" and how it represents that period of comics history. Witness Black Cat and Makkari on the list of the vanished, for instance... the Eternals aren't even on the -radar- these days, and for many years, the Inhumans weren't even an afterthought save for one or two on occasion, but nowadays they're mandatory.
It's like "Remember Sleepwalker, guys? Or Darkhawk? There was a while where they came to every event, but where are they now?"
Huh. You're right. I can't even remember the last time we saw any of the Earth Eternals (I know some of the Titan-based ones showed up in the Ultron OGN...).
And you're also right on the analysis of crossovers as a "capsule" for who was popular or who they were trying to push at the time. And so many forgotten characters.
I don't even know why Marvel hasn't tried harder to push the Eternals... every few years they give it a shot, give up, and shove them back into obscurity, with the last big effort being Gaiman's series.
Not that I have any great love for them, but they're at least as interesting and versatile as the Inhumans. :)
Tidbit: In-universe, the Kree were "inspired" to create the Inhumans after finding a dead Eternal. I don't know the issue this was established, though.
I had to look him up--he was on Alpha Flight, hence his presence on the board since the whole team is vanished/dead. Otherwise I don't think anyone would've remembered him.
One can only imagine whether there was confusion over Sue Richards disappearing.
"Sue Richards has vanished!" "... and?" "She's gone missing." "Well, maybe she's just invisible." "No-one can find her!" "That is kind of the point of 'being invisible'." "No, you're... urggh..." THREE HOURS LATER "Sue Richards has disappeared, in a manner not consistent with her usual method of operations, leading me to believe she has been taken or removed against her will." "Oooooh." "That really shouldn't have taken so long to explain."
That was actually a scene from Star Trek, "The Gamesters of Triskelion". Fortunately Spock was on the ball enough that it didn't take nearly that long;
SCOTT: Mister Spock, the Captain, Lieutenant Uhura, and Chekov. they vanished. They got onto the transporter platform and they just vanished. SPOCK: I presume you mean they vanished in a manner not consistent with the usual workings of the transporter, Mister Scott. SCOTT: Aye, of course I mean that. You think I'd call if they just beamed down?
Does Thanos know Reed is a potential threat and specifically got rid of the FF? He might know by now that Reed has successfully confronted Galactus multiple times by this point.
I'm kind of curious about that myself. I think it was presented that the "half of the universe" that suddenly died was random, but it's really convenient that it included ALL of the Fantastic Four, ALL of Alpha Flight and ALL of X-Factor. Maybe he targeted it somewhat?

"Didn't anybody notice I went missing?"
"Who are you again?"
"I'm the Texas Twister!"
"...who?"
