Funnily enough, recent studies indicate that T-Rex's were probably the kind of dinosaur that had scales instead of feathers.

That research was compromised. The character analysis was not the most correct and it ignores the fact that birds don't have feathers everywhere. This research is not taken that serious by most paleontologist and is still being contested. If Thomas Carr(One of the most prominent paleontologist who does research focuses on T-Rex, then I take that article with salt). Alot of the counter articles put holes in that study.
