Mod Post - April Request thread

On behalf of the mod Team, a Happy Easter to those who celebrate it, a Happy Passover to those celebrate that, and a happy chocolate-fest to those who celebrate neither.

I notice it's been a couple of months since we had one of these request posts so...

The aim of these (ahem) monthly posts is to give community members a chance to request postings; A story they might recall but not know the name of, or a specific arc, or even examples from a particular creator or genre.

We can't, of course, guarantee that any request will be filled, but given the combined geekitude of the community (and we mean that in the nicest possible sense) you might be surprised what can be unearthed.

Also, it seems to have been a little while since we had a Theme Week, so please so put forward your ideas for one, and we'll see what happens!

I just finished reading Gotham Central, could someone post the parts from the Spectre mini that followed that dealt with the fates of Corrigan, and Crispus' son?

As far as theme week I've opted to go with word association.

Let's see... it's April Fools Day. "Pranks" makes me think we'll get nothing but Archie (well, probably more Reggie realy) and "tricks" just makes me think of Loki. I like both but I'd be more interested in variety. What if the story tricked the reader?

Plot Twist Week sounds fun.

Theme: Work you genuinely like from a creator you tend to... not like. Call it... Diamond in the Rough?

... granted, I have a hard time thinking of any myself (when I hate a creator I tend to go all-out... haven't really read any of Byrne's Superman past the original mini), but I'm sure the more open-minded members of this community could.

Any comic books you'd recommend for chlidren aged 6~8?

I welcome all interesting stories, but I’m especially interested in stories with a) female protagonists, b) queer themes, and c) inspiring male figures who model a positive/nontoxic form of masculinity (i.e. not about being stoic/punching bad guys/impressing the girl/being destined to greatness, but valuing intelligence, tenderness, acceptance of emotions etc.).

Eric Shanower's Adventures in Oz AKA Little Adventures in Oz fits the bill. As doel the Little Nemo book he wrote.

If the kids like the Voltron cartoon, there are some Voltron comics you might get them.

Miraculous Ladybug has a comic book, and is a good cartoon with much of what you seem to be looking for.

Even Chat Noir's constant flirting isn't totally obnoxious and there's a lovely moment where he gives the only appropriate response to the concept of "the friend zone".

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is good and from the letters pages there are a lot of kids around those ages who enjoy it.

For a theme week how about "Redemption"? A time when a villain or disgraced hero turned back to the side of good. The only one I can think of right now is Skurge standing alone at Gjallerbru but I'm sure there are more.

Alternatively "Villain has a point week". I haven't seen Black Panther yet but a lot of people seem to think he's right. From the comics it was kind of hilarious how Steve's superpower of always being right was still in effect even while a nazi.

Batman Beyond

Batman Beyond 2.0 ( aka Justice League Beyond ) ended well back in 2012 /2013. They killed off Terry in Batman Beyond Rebirth and then brought him back and I kind of peaced out on the series. But they've rebooted the series again and Bruce is younger, Damian is alive, and Matt is Robin.

"Batman Beyond #18 will be available in local comic book shops or via digital services on March 28, 2018."

Would somebody be interested in some samples from the works of the east German caricaturist Erich Schmitt?
I was thinking about six or so strips from each of his series to give people an impression of his work.

P.S. Does somebody know how prevalent comics on film were? I have a bunch that were "printed" in the GDR and I have never seen something like that anywhere else.
