"I want to know what it's like to kiss a woman with a mustache!"

Huh. That's an interesting kink.

"then what about this painting of Jimmy?"
Clark, you are not fooling anyone......... still, the fact there is no paitning of Bruce Wayne should have been a dead giveaway.

Oh, he keeps his painting of Bruce where Lois will never find it.

......So basically Superman just had a collection of Dorian Grey style paintings of all his friends and former romantic interests?

Circe made this apparently. She just sat down and punched out all these cursed paintings.

Cause you know, that's what Circe is famous for, making cursed Dorian Grey paintings, Circe was never known for any other method of disposing of men who displeased her.

"Okay, you will let me go if I do WHAT!?"
"Paintings of all my exes Dorian Grey Style so Lois will find them and think I man cheating on her. It will be hilarious. I will even make a story, that you were jealous or something"
"Does Wonder Woman know about this?"
"Does Diana know about your 'secret shrine'?"
"...... just give me a brush...."

Doesn't everyone?

Even better, this version of Circe was demonstrably garbage at transformation magic. She created Comet the Super-Horse by trying to turn a hot centaur boi into a human and accidentally horsifying him instead.

And then for a consolation prize she gave him Superman's entire powerset, permanently, with none of the weaknesses. So she's basically an amazingly skilled sorceress at everything except the one thing she's famous for.

I recall there was also a story where she tried to turn Superman into a lion, but it didn't work and Supes just faked it by putting a shapeshifting alien on his face to give him a lions head.

Its kind of especially embarrassing when you remember that magic is one of the few things Superman is vulnerable to at this point. So you think if this Circe, even if she is crap at transformation magic, could transform anyone it would be Superman.

I was under the impression that Supes already had a gallery of portraits -- because of course he has a collection of painting of all his friends -- and Circe just hexed 'em.

Also: whatever happened to these paintings? I'm sure they've been quietly retcon'd out of existence a few reboots ago, but did they ever show up again?

The cover calls this an “Imaginary Story”, which is an alternate universe tale of things that may or may not come to pass (like Elseworlds).

So Superman didn't marry Luma Lyna because of the sunlight, issue. Not because she looks just like his first cousin, and that might've been weird?

He probably figured, "Not only does Luma look like Kara, but she too probably has a man-in-a-horse's-body pining for her. It'd be awkward."

I think Superman and Supergirl were infatuated with each other at that point, but them being cousins got inthe way of their love.

Oh, right. Now that you mention it, I seem to vaguely recall Superman making it very clear that the only reason he's not pursuing a relationship with her is because it's against Kryptonian custom.

It was his first cousin who fixed Superman up with Luma in the first place. He had no hope of avoiding the weird.

Honestly I have never even heard of Luma Lyna before this. I can only assume someone threw a picture of Supergirl in there not realizing they were cousins and they changed the costume and dialog to make it someone else.

Superman's explanation about not telling Lois what the paintings were was ridiculously shrugging. Like Lois Lane, who dies almost every week because of Superman, would be so thrown off about these paintings?

Also why was Lori just hanging around in a glass box filled with water? Doesn't she live in the ocean?

"Hey Lois, just a heads up, I've got a safe full of paintings of my exes because it turns out your life is a cruel joke that could be snuffed out at any moment at the capricious whim of an immortal Greek sorceress."

"Really? What a scoop!"
