Okay this is real.
Sorry I just didn't expect this to happen.
Well I won't have to buy the really expensive copies on E-Bay now.

"You demanded it"

Isn't this run generally regarded as the worst thing to happen to the Turtles (aside from maybe The Next Mutation)?

Hmm, so Donatello is a giant cyborg now.

I presume this is a direct result of him getting his ass kicked by Bebop and Rocksteady (The last time someone posted scans from this series, that I was aware of, it was a comic where Bebop and Rocksteady, who in this universe are humongous badasses who can kick anyones asses and can basically wreck the entire team, catch Donatello alone at their lair while everyone else is out doing shit, and then beat his ass so hard they literally break his shell, and when everyone comes back its implied he's dead.

But from the look of this he did not die, and in fact they did have the technology and they rebuilt him better, stronger, more Lifeldian than he was before. That about right?

Also, it looks like Casey Jones died at some point and now Raph is wearing his mask in honor. If I may continue to play detective.

Raph was scarred, so he wears the mask, Don was shot, and then fell out of a helicopter so he got a robot body, Leo loses a hand, and Mikey is still Mikey....this run was horrendous in my personal opinion. It reeked of 90's edge, hence the maimed, disfigured heroes.

That's the IDW run.

This is an old run from Image in the 90s that was never finished, and I can see why because I it look atrocious and I'm going to stay away.

Oh wow I was way off then.

So I guess Donny was killed by bebop and Rocksteady then?

Ah, Glad that worked out.

(Kind of figured they wouldn't kill off a turtle. And Hey, I was kind of right afterall).

The IDW run is actually pretty great. It's does that thing that the last Nickelodeon cartoon did where they cherry pick elements from past versions of the Turtles and offer a new spin of it.

For example the original comic Splinter was Hamato Yoshi's pet rat but the Splinter from the original cartoon is Hamato Yoshi himself. All the other Splinters I can think of pick one or the other. IDW Splinter sort of does both; he's a lab rat who is that reincarnation of a Hamato Yoshi from feudal Japan.

Ah yes the infamous volume three which IMO wasn't bad but was very very 90's.

There were good bits (the Raphael and Michelangelo plot lines) the bad bits (Donatello becoming a cyborg because of random plot contrivance) and some bits I could take or leave.

IMO the biggest problem was they tried to make this an official continuation of the mirage series which while the quality of volume one and two were very mixed (in some places it is far worse than anything Image did) the tone shift was just a bit too blatant. Going from the controlled chaos of the previous volumes into the 90's on parade edgyness didn't work.

I mean it isn't surprising that with volume four they ignored it and swept it off into just yet another alternate version of things.

Yes...as a TMNT fan I was...less than pleased with the direction of this series.

I'd never thought they would collect THIS series, when the Archie TMNT Adventures deserves some TPB Love. The B&W Future Tense is NOT ENOUGH!

I will buy this for the Raph centric issues. They were quite good.
