They first teased his return with teen Jean finding that he was no longer in his metal cocoon, and then they teased it further by showing that he was somehow in the possession of the Space Stone last year, he was supposed to be part of the current Infinity War event but he ended up pawning the stone off on Black Widow. And then there were about a dozen "after credit scenes" at the end of various books about Logan just barely missing different heroes as they finished an adventure or mission. He was watching Kitty and Colossus' wedding from a distance, but decided not to show up for the ceremony.
There was a oneshot detailing how the X-men found out that he was no longer in his grave/cocoon. That led to four different 4-issue Hunt for Wolverine miniseries about Logan's friends, family, enemies and Daredevil all going on separate missions searching for him since they found out he's alive. Not one of them actually succeeded in finding him, but they're all going to lead into another oneshot that somehow ties them all together.
That oneshot is going to lead into the upcoming 5 issue Return of Wolverine miniseries. At which point they'll finally explain how he came back and why he hasn't made contact with anyone.
So believe me they are milking his return for all its worth. And then some.
One thing I really liked about this era and the Utopia period that followed was that pretty much any X-person could show up at any time. Made it feel like a real community.
How old are the Cuckoos supposed to be? I had thought they were like 13 when Grant Morrison first introduced them and they seem like teenagers in the current X-23 comic, but Land and Fraction seem to be implying they are a lot older. It just seems really creepy here.

Date: 2018-08-17 09:27 pm (UTC)If this happened today, I'd imagine the now-alive Jean (both of them, in fact) would have something to say about Logan keeping a lock of her hair.

Scott is still dead.
