Ahhh, Jon Bogdanove...I remember as a young kid always hating the fact that he was the usual "closer" of these big X-Men events because they almost always seemed to end in X-Factor (which he was penciler on). I've grown to appreciate his style a lot more now that I'm older, but back in the day it was quite a letdown coming off of Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld (oh how little I knew) and then landing on...Jon Bogdanove?

On the one hand, it's nice they took Rahne's advice and scattered the ashes on Doug's grave

On the other hand, Boom-Boom unceremoniously upends the urn and dumps the pile right there like it's a jelly mould?

On the other, other hand it seems entirely in character that Boom-Boom would wear that dress to a funeral. That's not a judgment I hasten add, just an observation about 90's fashions and her cheerfully in-your-face style. I hope someone wears an outfit like that to my funeral, if only to start some interesting rumours after I'm gone.

On the other, other, other hand, she says Warlock called Doug his "bestfriend", it's like she never heard him talk about him, he was his "selfsoulfriend" and he was particular about that.

On the other, other, other, other hand, Warlock is a member of a race whose ability to infect any and all organic matter with a technorgnic virus by contact is rightly feared. I'm not sure that I'd have been quite so happy to disperse it at all, no matter how inert it seemed (Warlock's been dead before and all)

On the other, other, other, other, other hand it's nice that the other X-Men came to the ceremony.

Well this art was certainly better than Bogdavone's middle chapter, but it's still crappy. Makes Milgrom looks like a master of the medium.

First Magma quits the team. Then Cypher dies. Then Magik. Then Warlock. Then Rhane quits. That was depressing.
I was never able to like Boom Boom and Rictor as much as I liked the other New Mutants.

The art was quite a rollercoaster in this event.
On one side, Jim Lee at his best. On the other side, Bogdanove and Liefeld.

It's fun how Rhane's outfil is still obeying the "female outfit part that covers the breast is as undestructible as Hulk's pants" rule, even though she is covered with fur.
