This has ALL the Silver Age logic. Things were much simpler and weirder back then... I miss the days when you could fall in love with, and propose to, a woman within hours of meeting her. :)
I've enjoyed binge reading old Superman, Supergirl, World's Finest, and Jimmy Olsen stories in DC's B&W Showcase volumes and the like... but you can only take so much, before you go "Nothing works like that" and need a break.
"Have you had a chance to inspect the property and decide if it's what you were looking for?"
"Well, it's garish, ugly, and derelicts have used it for a toilet. The rides are delapidated to the point of being lethal, and could easily maim or kill innocent little children."
Regardless of who Silver Age Supergirl were to end up marrying, I doubt she could've kept her real hair colour a secret from her husband for very long with that wig. I'm surprised no one back then thought of having super-hair-colour switching be one of her powers, as it is for Kara in the current continuity.
Let's sum up the superdickery, shall we? 1) Supes problem with the marriage is that he will no longer be able to use Linda as a super weapon. 2) slightly related to the above. His dialogue implies that, since she is going to marry Jimmy, she can no longer be Supergirl. 3) Upon discovering Linda has lost her memories, he decides to NOT tell anyone and let her marry Jimmy. Probably because he thought it would be hilarious when her powers suddenly came back. 4) He forgot to bring a gift to the wedding.
.......... Jimmy was surprisingly mature this issue.
"Too bad Clark couldn't attend the wedding, due to an urgent, out of town assignment. You'd think I, as his boss, would determine his assignments, but apparently not. ... I wonder what green tastes like?"
That aside, not sure it was a good idea to basically tell the readers that yeah, if Jimmy quit pursuing the woman who seems to utterly hate his guts half the time, he and everyone involved beside her would end up perfectly happy.

"Like it? I want to test it out for a story!"
