Teasing the idea of sending Old Man Logan home interests me. The Death of Wolverine already gave us "Wolverine's healing factor is burnt out and he's taking on all comers anyway" so I wouldn't entirely object to them doing something different with the ending. Then again, that might feel like a cheat.
At the same time, I just want someone to remember that the original Old Man Logan storyline had a relatively happy ending which explicitly set up a next step for the character involving raising Bruce Banner Jr. and potentially taking on more of the wasteland warlords. It just really annoys me to 1) have that setup ignored, and 2) implicitly have Logan not really give a shit about his adoptive kid abandoned in his Mad Max-esque future. I think the Lemire run touched on it, but not in a way that resolved anything or really made much sense from what I understand.
Finally, taking a second glance at the cover I noticed the "2 of 12" subtitle and felt the strength ebbing from my very bones. This is two issues in and it already feels like its approaching the endgame, how in hell are they going to do anything but tread water for the rest of this series? Sometimes a series can be short. Six issues is fine.
I haven't read everything with Logan, whatever the iteration, has been in but at least 98% of the time it seems his only go to solution to any problem has been "Snikt!" followed closely by MurderDeathKill, or at least attempting it.
See I don't mind them going back to the illusion thing, it feels obvious, but in a full-circle kind of way. What throws me is that this is happening in issue 2 of 12, which seems like a weird place to do it from a dramatic standpoint. I would have thought something like this would work better nearer the actual ending.
Oh no! Can four Avengers, a couple of whom are extremely powerful, possibly defeat an elderly, half-blind Wolverine with only three adamantium claws who doesn't even know who he's fighting?
Yes, of course they can. Don't be silly. Most of those guys could handle him solo.
