For one thing, I don't remember Doc Samson being this... stupid or arrogant.

I have to assume it's non-canon, but yeah, the rendition of Doc Samson here is just downright weird. At least his closing scene here is funny and he gets what he (in this incarnation) thoroughly deserves.
