Even tossing aside whether "maybe rape baby?!" is a good story idea - Dani can't be Kilgrave's biological daughter. If she was, she wouldn't be of mixed race. She is. So of course it's a damn trick, or infection, or whatever.
Being disturbed that your daughter looks like a monster? Sure.
Doubting her paternity when she's clearly Luke's and in a world where paternity tests exist? Blatantly forced drama that makes the characters look like idiots.
This. I was thinking all the time: "You know DNA tests exist right?" And she even looks like Luke. Also, the know people who can see DNA or smell kinship.
Funny enough, that was brought up in the very first scene of the first issue. Carol suggested it and didn't understand why Jess isn't already investigating it, then figured out that Jess is deliberately avoiding it so she can just pretend that Dani really is Luke's and she's just being mindfucked somehow, instead of getting a definitive answer either way.
The Netflix series has hinted Jessica's abrasive personality could be a side-effect of her powers, not trauma from Killgrave. That is the series, not the comics. But still...
