In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.

It's yet ANOTHER pivotal week in the Brexit farrago, with the first decisive vote tonight. The Maybot has been running around in perhaps the most definitive case of permative negotiations, and after a suitably dramatic last ditch flight to Brussels yesterday has come back claiming that new guarantees have been agreed, which others have already pointed out were already there on the existing document.

Friday coming is "Comic Relief Red Nose Day" in the UK (And after the previous few days I suspect we'll bloody well need some) the charity telethon/event.

It's 30 years to the day since Tim Berners-Lee (now SIR Tim) submitted a document to his boss about a proposed means to share digital information, which is seen as the foundation of the creation of the World Wide Web. In an open letter he expressed his dismay at the way that it was being used and abused, with particular concern about data breaches and deliberate attempts to manipulate voters.

A Fox News host, one Tucker Carlson, is accused of misogyny and racism after old audios of his calls to a phone in show (featuring someone called "Bubba the Love Sponge"), has invited anyone who disagrees with his frankly outrageous comments to come on his show. (If you want to read his comments follow the link, but I'd add a trigger warning for sexism, misogyny and discussions of underage sex)

The POTUS 45 Administration is considering  cut of 7.1 billion in education budget. It's unlikely to pass, but says a LOT about priorities.

Several countries (Australia and Singapore) have made the decision to ban the Boeing 737 Max aircraft from their airspace after the second fatal crash in less than five months (though it should be noted there is no evidence of a link yet). Other countries have taken varied actions

Duck Tales had it's first episode for a couple of months (and the last until May), and it was a corker, giving us the story of what Della Duck, sister to Donald, mother to the triplets and adventurer in her own right, had been doing since her rocket crashed on the moon shortly before the triplets hatched. Managed to be funny, exciting and heartbreaking without breaking a sweat and Paget Brewster's rather eccentric Della was a delight.

Finished watching Seraph of the End, which ambled along in a not terribly surprising manner. "Oh look, everyone in power is a malevolent bag of dicks" is hardly a twist no-one saw coming. Apparently there might yet be a season 3.Started to watch "The Order" on Netflix, but gave up after the third episode (and that was a slog). Bland with a side-order of dull..

But to end on an up note, we have a new trailer for Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's Good Omens!

After giving it some thought, I've decided to just stop visiting scans-daily and commenting on posts, entirely.

It's mostly because of, and I cannot stress this enough, cyberghostface; but also because I need to devote more time to my close personal relationships and my creative projects.

Sayonara, everyone.

I assume that this is to celebrate the Web at 30, that you've decided to perform a good old fashioned "flounce" on your way out the door. It has been a while since I've seen someone decide to flounce out the door like that like that. Quality comedy entertainment all around.

In the comics, Della Duck is in a home for people with mental challenges. Been there since the triplets were small. Some of her issues are noticeable in the occasional flashback to the childhood of her twin brother Donald. Probably indicates that he'd not have been totally well even without the PTSD.

Underrated time travel comedy "Timewasters" returned this week with its first two episodes dropping on ITV Hub and ITV2 (for UK viewers), this time they are moving on from their first trip to the 1920s into the 1950s and the Windrush era; the time travelling Jazz troop almost erased one of their members from existence when they interfered with their grandmother's love life, and may have kick started the feminist revolution with a strippers union.

It is a wonderful comedy, and with the main cast being black actors, definitely deserves a look.

I recently discovered there is a sequel series to Karate kid named "Cobra Kai" focused on the antagonist from the first movie that is part of "Youtube Originals", which is... pretty good. It's actually fascinating seeing an adult Daniel Larusso or how they managed to flesh out the character of Johnny Lawrence.

So American Gods is back after two years... haven't watched the first episode yet but it's getting pretty poor reviews. There's been a whole lot of behind the scenes shenanigans with original showrunner Bryan Fuller leaving and a few loyal cast members following him (Gillian Anderson and Kristen Chenowith).

Don't know what Fuller did in a past life to jinx his series but it seems he can't catch a break...

S2 ep1 is just like all of the previous episodes; glorious visuals, wonderful allegory, Ian McShane's wonderful voice, and completely weird and wandering events that don't seem to connect to anything at all. I mean, if you stuck with it throughout S1 then it is exactly like that. It defies absolutely any of the conventions of regular television though.

Something in The Dragon Prince that makes me happy…
Soren is a self centered jerk and I had pegged him as the kind of jerk that’ll spout specist/nationalistic bullshit at elves, but also sexist bullshit at Claudia, Rayla, and, just maybe, Amaya’s back. And I was wrong! And I’m so glad! Correct me if I misremember, but he... doesn’t?
I’m so tired of children’s fiction heavy handed portraying of sexism as A Bad Thing... but still a thing that exist, that will always exist, even in fantasy, in any kind of world, and I find it so refreshing that for once, ladies are allowed to do what they do without catching any kind of flak in-universe. Like, I don’t know what viewers will take of it, but at least their own world respects them?

I'm not sure how I feel about how Michael Jackson's work is being treated recently, even in light of the recent allegations/documentary. Personally, for better or worse, I think that's wrong to just sweep everything under the figurative rug and pretend they never happened.

Next episode of the Supergirl TV show is going to have Lex Luthor. Credit where credit is due, the writers get what makes Luthor tick judging by the trailer.

The final line he speaks in the extended trailer just oozes "Lex Luthor!"

As sad as I am about Arrow ending, I LOVE that they've cast Adrian Paul as (apparently) this season's big bad!

I finally watched Umbrella Academy and loved it. Part of me wonders how much of that was due to going in 100% blind, as in knowing nothing of the comics. Also wondering if that (to a lesser degree) would make me like Captain Marvel more..? I know a bit about Carol, the basics of Skrulls, but couldn't tell you the first thing about a Kree. So there couldn't really be any "they changed it, now it sucks!" feels from me.

in "real world" news, work has been stressing me out lately, and issues regarding my dad's death a few years ago popping back up isn't helping. I actually started looking into therapy, but between my $7,000 deductible, maybe having to get prior authorization to see someone, and the fact that therapy didn't really impress me that much the first time I tried it....probably not happening.

Late breaking news: A major scandal as numerous CEOs are being charged with openly bribing college admissions boards and engaging in everything from mail fraud to exam cheating.

The biggest names are former Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman and (believe it or not) Full House and Hallmark Channel mainstay Lori Loughlin.

I saw a little clip of the episode the other day and got all misty-eyed. There is a spot where Della sings the lullaby she "used to sing for [her] boys before they hatched."

The melody for said lullaby is the Moon theme from the video game.

Not just Ducktales but Star vs the Forces of Evil opened it's final season with the search for Queen Moon. And it seems tearjerking lullabies from mom are a theme because Sweet Little Mewni Rabbit tugged the rusted heartstrings of my cold heart even more than Della Duck's.

Avatar 2 is apparently still being made, because James Cameron showed some footage to executives. It’s apparently going to come out in 2020, a mere 11 years after the original came out.

Oh my God Avatar came out a decade ago. It’s just been so long since it was relevant.

Also in genuinely surprising news, apparently their also making a THIRD Robert Downey Jr. sherlock Holmes film. I though that series died about 2013.

I finally started playing Beyond Good and Evil, after I got it in November 2017. I really enjoy its vibe and atmosphere, and it seems like the sort of game I would have really liked as a kid.

Also the Transformers Prime Wars series has been reuploaded to Rooster Teeth’s website. This is unfortunate because now this content is available, and some poor soul might actually watch it. I liked when it wasn’t legally available.

I first read it as "the Transformers Prime series" and was like "awesome, I can recommend it to a friend of mine who is just now starting to get into Transformers!"

Good thing your dire yet accurate warning made me read the line twice and saved me from cruelly hurting my friend.

It's nice that the trailer for Good Omens acknowledges there are characters in the story who are not Aziraphale and Crowley.

While out shopping at the weekend I saw something pretty sweet:
There was a kid running around dressed as Captain America, and when she got to the checkout the person behind it asked if they were Captain America.
The kid responded quite firmly "No, I'm Captain Marvel!"
How's that for reaching a target audience?

Every time someone says that Batman Beyond is one of their favorite current comic titles, I despair a little and have to wonder if other comics are so much worse. Because to me BB is full of wasted potential, meandering repetitive plots, idiot heroes, inconsistent characterization, bad pacing, etc.

They really shoulda left that damn 'verse alone. It was hard enough aligning it with just the DCAU, you put it through this many continuity reboots and none of it's gonna make any sense.

Yes, Cyberpunk!Batman is a cool aesthetic, but surely they could've tweaked one of the main books to chase that demographic...
