It's kinda cute that Ewing thinks having Conan the Barbarian is a ridiculous stunt too far.

In what way? Cheesy and overdone? Becuase you really ship Wanda/Conan? Some other reason?

Overdone and clichéd.
The notion that a guy and a gal left alone will inevitably start getting Feelings for one another.

(... okay, and maybe I might ship Wanda / Vision. But that's entirely unrelated to the general irritation at the use of clichéd storytelling.)

I dunno, seeking a bit of physical comfort after weeks journeying together in isolation doesn't feel that much to me like the romance-novel cliche, especially since it's quickly averted.

I also very much approve of giving Conan a bit of a tender side. His original stories are kind of the mythological scripture of toxic masculinity, enough so that I kind of worried when he showed up here, but his lament in the next issue-- "Is it only those I *loved* who can *die?"*-- got me firmly on board.

Wanda's also blind and almost completely dependent on Conan. That could create some feelings as well.

And much as I'd like to see a certain ginger Hyrkanian rejoin the Marvel fold too, she's been having a great run at Dynamite, especially with this latest arc.

If Sonja returned to Marvel, my biggest concern would be what they do to her backstory. Dynamite made the great move of ditching the rape and the problematic "can't sleep with somebody unless they defeat me in combat" thing, and it would make me very sad if that crept back in.

Man, I really feel if we don't get Hercules & Conan sharing a scene at some point it's going to be a missed opportunity.

That said Scarlet Witch and Conan is the sort of genius synergy that I'm mad at myself for not thinking of.

(I mean, it's not like I've spent a lot of time thinking about Conan *ever*, especially in the context of "Which Marvel Superheroes/Avengers would he best crossover with, but still this feels super obvious in retrospect which makes me appreciate the writers here.)

(Also, this just made me remember the old Saturday morning Conan cartoon show, the only time I cared about Conan was as a kid.)

I doubt it would even be mentioned in this story, but Wanda once wore the Serpent Crown and was later chosen as a Bride of Set, and he was comparatively active in the Hyborean Age. Be interesting if his priests (who tended to be some of the more adept wizards in what's now Egypt, and show up as antagonists in Conan stories) could pick up on that.
