That's kind of been what I've been orbiting around for a while in terms of the nature of the Hulk. Hulk as a kind of demonic figure spawned by mankind from the bomb, like something from the Book of Job, walking up and down on the world and judging it. Not a supernatural figure, but a figure that could occupy that space in a scientific world. -- Al Ewing

Samson's making a pun on this Hulk's nature-preserving attitude (some people use the term "green" to label that kind of world view) and the fact that he's literally green as well.

I said it before and I'll say it again: the Maestro is Bruce Banner thinking "Everything will be better once I'm in charge."

This is less "Everything will be better" and more "The human race won't die out, leaving me alone. Wait..."

Nah, I think Maestro is just Bruce stop giving a f**k about the world that hates and fears him, and decides to take what he wants, when he wants it.

Envy is about the only sin not present in Maestro

that could be pride over envy. He's so much better than everyone else

I thought they handwaved Devil Hulk as Nightmare messing with Bruce.

(Not that I'm complaining, that Devil Hulk was always really good).

What the handwave takes, the handwave can give back.

Nightmare implied that some parts of the Hulk's past were dreams, but didn't point out anything specific. And honestly, the less said about that story the better.

I was never too interested in Banner Hulk outside of P____ D____'s stories and his role in the Avengers films, but I'm really, really liking this book.

This is one of the things kind of handwaves stuff. Because in the MU we have already achieved intergalactic travel.

The earth dying would still be shit, mind, but it wouldn't neccessarily wipe out humanity in the MU.

even in the MU we don't really have the infrastructure to transport that many people though

They've got Pym particles. So space isn't really an issue.

I'm not sure you could fit seven billion people on all the various quinjets and FF designed spaceships on Earth at an inch tall or roughly that. Pym particles don't shrink you to atom size

What I meant with infrastructure is the construction of space ships that could travel somewhere from seven billion. They may exist but the people with the know how to build them are rare. It's likely the machines for any sort of mass production are too, and possibly even the materials

Yeah, they don't shrink you to atom size. Just smaller. Small enough that you get shunted into the Microverse, even.

And if just the Illuminati have resources to build a Dyson sphere then all the other superscientists and world powers in addition to them shouldn't really have a problem with building a simple space fleet.

To be fair, when was the last time anyone actually used anything Hank Pym did that wasn't either stolen or part of the Ant-family?

That didn't seem to help much during the whole Incursion crisis and they realized they might need to evacuate the Earth

They ended up building 1 ship for the Illuminati and the Avengers and left the rest of humanity to die

On that occasion it would kinda have been pointless to build spaceships for everyone, since the whole multiverse was ending. You kinda need somewhere to go too.

A ship that can survive the end of everything probably requires a bit more tinkering than ones that just fly through space.

Not everyone has a space ship, evacuating the whole Planet wouldn't be possible.

Plus the rest of the universe doesn't like humans. Where would they even go?

This is amazing. Just amazing. I continue to love the way Al Ewing uses every little piece of the continuity beast to his advantage, and builds on past stuff in cool ways, rather than ignoring, over-writing or jettisoning what came before. And then he does it in such a way that's not confusing to newer readers but may even cause them to go digging for older stories! Man, that's good comics.

Nah, the Devil Hulk is refreshingly honest. He comes off as an amoral monster, at times, but he is consistently driven by one thing, to Protect Banner. And he'll do whatever it takes. If you hurt Banner or worse, kill him, when the Hulk comes out...there will retribution. He could alternately be called the 'Dad Hulk'. But he is MAD DOG MEAN and he has no problem, relishes in fact, making people pay for thier deeds.

The thing about this run that kills me is that Ewing has managed to pull of at least four issue endings that make me go 'HOLY HELL.' with their impact. This issue was another one. This run is so great.
